1202 Souncraft EFX, some built in lexicon fxs, decent EQ, no direct outs so it's for perfomance / mixing down only, it's going to pair up with my kp3 for dubness. Also bought a bluetube pre amp, after changing the tube (original one is chinese crap) it's a really good tube pre amp for the price.

Drums and bass going to be the only sound sources, or do you have other stuff, synths, samplers, sequencers? Sounds awesome bro. I've got a bunch of outboard gear, but have been running it all into my comp. I'd like to get a mixer and a tape machine to do full sessions out of the computer. I've been dragging my ass on the mixer for many long time. Mixer and a reel to reel. The future is bright.

Speaking of bright futures, are you Brazilian? What's the situation in São Paulo right now?

I've got a Korg EMX-1 tubed groovebox that I bought in Chile but can't find a transformer to make it work on 110v, a shitty guitar, Korg KP3 sampler/fx processor and tons of snare drums and different cymbals. I'm looking for one of those big 4 to 32 track late 60's recorders too. My old boss has a spare one but he's trying to rip me off :(
Yup, I'm brazillian. São Paulo is the same as always, big, crowded, polluted and rainy. Also it's summer, so it's 28~33º C during day. Police raided that crack neighborhood recently so old downtown is getting better / safer. They are also expanding the metro / train lines / updating the trains, definitely an improvement. Also they are building this huge ass stadium. A good situation I guess, but still quite different from UK / US.

Tune I submitted is the last digital produced one. Will give feedback in a few hours.

I put up the tunes that have been sent to me so far...keep em coming, I'll be sort of lenient, but I'd prefer to have them in by the deadline

Sorry Sonika, I bonked, I won't be turning a track in. Opened up my song Friday morning, and just could not listen to it. Had one of those days.

Oh and the guy who's choosing the theme for the week after this week is Hircine, I'll hit him a PM.

I think we need to give less time between theme announcements decreases the temptation to cheat...

You're right. Hircine told me the theme, but I won't name it until close to the end of the week

i havnt been keeping check on this, for those involved would you say this is helping you out in terms of song writing? or just workflow? any any other notable improvements?, id like to think i could do this but id just want to perfect the tracks and get a bit behind on general life things

I have fun doing it. I do it for the feedback, people actually give sincere feedback about all the aspects (musical taste, production et coetera) of the song. You also get to know other people's work.

for me it does, it makes me work towards a goal because others are doing it too. it improves my workflow, and it's fun to have a theme and work on it, and then see what other people did with that idea at the end of the week.

Its just winwin for me,i have learned a lot of techniques of the last year or so and this is the perfect practice for nailing them.I am finding i am getting a lot more creative with my sound design and my workflow is most definitely speeding up.
I hear you on the getting behind in general life but music is what i love so the general things are going to have to go on the back burner for now,the way i see it is the faster i can put out quality tunes the more time i will have for other stuff.I suppose in a certain way you have to weigh up what you want to do more.

it helps push me to finish tracks rather than just fill my hard drive up with half finished WIPs. also, the themes can have various benefits depending on what it is. for example, this week's theme is to create a track using only recordings of one's own voice (with as much processing as we'd like). Even if the tune i make turns out lousy, when i finish i will have a folder full of original vocal samples to use as i please in future work, plus experience processing and experimenting with them. as for the group feedback, it's nice to get comments other than "sweet bro, check out my tracks!" even if it's constructive criticism.
