As a longtime fan of Microtonic and other VST drumsynths I've been wondering why there wasn't anything similar for my iPhone; the fickle iOS gods must've heard my prayers. ;-)

Anybody in the market for an OUTSTANDING drumsynth (and that happens to have an iOS device) needs to buy SeekBeats ASAP. Holy shit is it amazing!

Bearing in mind that it's the first release and more features are yet to come in all likelihood, the main selling point is the sound. It sounds really, really good. I mean... really good. Perfect for generating "underpin" drum hits to go underneath samples or other drum hits that might be missing something somewhere. It's got a sequencer, a simple workflow with deep control over the sound params with both a three-envelope view plus a two oscillator + noise display with further shaping abilities incl. bandpassing, envelope follow options, etc.

Highly recommended. Four happy dancing corns out of four for sure.

:corndance: :corndance: :corndance: :corndance:

(PS: recommended for iPhone 5, iOS 6. Might be buggy otherwise.)

^ Yep.

@Nowaysj - One of the reasons that the dev flow has been from desktop to mobile is clearly CPU power, but you're right: at this point there are iOS apps that do some things better than a desktop could. Thumbjam & Drumjam are the first things that come to mind. Impaktor too.

But there's a perception gap to overcome as well. I still get people telling me it's impossible to make "real" music on an iPhone. I tell them to visit my SC page and STFU.

New modular synth - and it's free, and very dope - offers IAP's but the basic functionality is awesome. Works on iphone & ipad.

If you can develop an iapp and sell it for $5, you can develop a VST and sell it for $5.

Paradigms, they're a bitch.

not sure whether or not it's been mentioned itt but electrum drum machine for android is pretty much perfect, not an overwhelming DAW cpu/battery hog but a simple drum machine/sequencer with a bunch of free sample packs and a very intuitive interface. i bought the paid version, and i RARELY buy an app for my phone.

Propellerhead's Figure is free today (at least in the US, not sure about elsewhere.)

Good shit right here guys. HIGHLY recommend it, even if it's just for laughs.

Dude, was at the park yesterday with my girl, doing homework, and I launched korg's mono/poly, fucking dooooop beat going in there. Launched Figure... dope beat going in there.

I've got to start integrating the ipad into my shitz, but in a more legit way. I've just been recording stuff out the minijack, but, I think I need full midi and higher quality audio capabilities. What is the state of the art audio i/0 for ipad?

For being such a basic app, figure is great fun. I deleted it though because it wasnt on the bus (not sure if it is now though). You can really get a sick beat going with it super quick.

As far as getting it in to youre daw, iconnectmidi 2 is still the best option. Personally, i dont think it sounds bad coming out of the headphone jack. As long as you have a decent cable and interface youll be fine. Thats what i do and it sounds great imo.

I'd really like at least a high quality stereo out on the device though. I run it sometimes into my system, but also into a preamp and sampler.

Thats what the audio pass though is supposed to offer (more or less). Seeing as all the audio with be coming though the lightning/30 pin instead of the headphone jack.

I havent gotten the chance to test one out yet (super poor atm), but its supposed to be the best solution. Unless youre looking for something that you can plug 1/4" into, than that would be the iodock.

Yeah, sometimes I can use audio pass through, sometimes I don't have the ability to... you know, sit, so it is 404 and ipad time, no audio pass through possible.

Discovered a new reverb - and it's pretty amazing sounding. It's on sale for $4.99 right now (which again, stop and think about how much VSTs and AUs cost! This can more than hold its own against many of 'em as well.) It has Audiobus, copy/paste, and Soundcloud support as well.
