madeon is a great example

maxed out mixdown then pumped more mastering
wall of sound
it can sound decent in context with other tunes like it
if you only have a few elements it works great for electronic music, because the average listener considers louder better

jesus that shit is just PINNED. actually doesn't sound bad, but... man o man. an hour of that and your body will start breaking down-- it's an endless assault.

Most EDM artists do their own masters tbh.
Bullshit anything released has been done by a professional engineer. There are big groups of producers who all use the same engineers tbh

Holy....I had no idea this post blew up like this, I really haven't been on the forum basically since I posted it...My my. I read through a lot of the shit-flinging that ensued, some decent points from those who actually made relevant comments. I understand it's really just common practice at this point, so maybe the loudness should just be paid no mind for mind's sake.

Speaking of relevance, I'll just leave this here:

exactly it's limited to fuck, but stillsounds good
it's basically the rob swire/pendulum/knife party mixdown
i have to turn it to like 25% volume wise compared to most of the tunes i listen to it's so rms peaked
good tune though

i get the assault comment you made, the average sound engineer with a rig with mainly high end speakers peaking the high eq end ick, i used to deal with that for spor, evol intent, ewun barcode boys back when and my ears got raped, even with plugs i walked out with ears ringing and a bit of tinnitus
