i made it this arvo! Was going for bit of a dungeon tune at first but i dont think i left the percussion spacey enough, its a little busy to be dungeon but yeah still a bit dubby imho.

Just my opinion but some not bad ideas, maybe up the tempo, maybe a bit reverb drenched or there are similar sounds with the same reverb settings perhaps. Mess with length and reverb amount or percentage etc

Just my opinion and criticism, look at it whichever way you like.
Nice movement and colour, can hear what you are trying to do.
Maybe the kick should be a bit more beefy for the 4x4 element and then base the rest of the sounds to that. Some notes sound out of key in parts.

This is a nice work out again, trancey and melodic so make sure all the keys work together, sweep the keys up and down to see which work better if you are not sure, the deeper sound doesn't seem right... maybe just the key of it. Snare could be shaped better, maybe touch louder, get some volume out of your system while listening to it and you will tell.

Cheeky-Not complex enough, I don't think the bass has enough layers. It just sounds really empty, and something about the high end is harsh. I think with some correction to the bass and mix it could be great.

Skerrick (Sundials)-Oh man I absolutely love this. Only things I could really say are that the snare sounds really tacky compared to everything else, and that the rainy sound might be a tad static and overpowering. Maybe get a better sample for that snare and automate the rain? But everything else is brilliant.

Eye-siC-I've never really heard anything like this...the drums all garagey but the upfront synths. I think the chords might be a little unnatural, but that's part of the style. You could add more movement to the chords maybe. I love the percs, sounds really cool.

skerrick: Too much sub in the beginning imo. Kind of kills the mood for me. Like, it makes me not wanna listen to the song. BUT, that percussion is excellent, makes up for the sub intro. Make the sub a little less loud and the solo intro a little shorter. I do like the little wobbly sub in the mini-percussion breakdown haha.

StratosFear: Kick is dry imo. The sample is fine, just EQ it some to add a little more punch. That's all it needs. I like the happy melody man, really good composition, nice choice of synths, and that "shaker/whitenoise" in the background is beautiful, it adds feeling. I really think you did an amazing job with synths though man, big ups. Shit, I want an mp3 for this, dead serious. It sounds so happy it brings a tear to my eye


OKAY! So I just threw this together in legit about 35 minutes and I'm feeling pretty damn good about it. Definitely want to work on it some more, just need some ideas guys. What do you think I should add for breakdowns, etc? Don't want this to be another fail project that gets abandoned.

@StratosFear: man, sick sick tune, TRAPMOSPHERIC (a lil term i invented for the trap tunes i kept making that kept coming out really atmospheric.) i find it actually a lil bit difficult to make trap tbh.. the timing etc is tricky.. solid work though man, you got the 808 kit down

@dotSOUND: man this is a sick little ditty ^ i like the bass in the drop, so crisp and deep. works really well with the percs you used. keen to see where this goes but i dont have too many ideas to offer you.. maybe find a fucking rude dirty quote and slip it in just before the drop?
imma have a rework of that tune when i get home and repost it here later with a bit of a fix up. im thinking either just lower the vol a lot, or keep it the same but remove the wobbles and replace them with flat bass notes... not sure.. can you specify where you reckon it needs to be changed from/to? like lower/remove the bass between 0:00 and 0:30? i really kinda like it how it is tbh but i dont know... anyone else got any ideas for me?

@dotcurrency - I'm not a very big fan of neither the kick nor the snare. I think you need to stand out a bit more, however, I find the idea of the song good.

@StratosFear - I love this tune man, very relaxing. I have no idea what I would change in this tune as it is simply gorgeous.

@Skerrick - The idea is off the hook and I really dig both the beat and the intro. However, I would love to hear just a bit more of some pad work going on, as I really think that would complete the track as a whole.

UNORTHODOX - man this tune is eerie as fuck, which i love. evil shit is the best, nice reversed/stretched snares in the intro. really good mixdown with le percussion.. the first little breakdown before the drop is haunting me man hah! i really like this tune reckon you could bring your basslines up a little bit.

Speaking of which, i re edited the tune i made called 'weasel' and its currently in my sig/at the top of my soundcloud page. if anyone listened to it when i posted it earlier would you mind listening again and letting me knwo if you can notice the difference and whether i just ruined my tune or not haha :s

The I was talking about is Barebones. I just took an extra listen to it and really, some more pad work and that tune is banging. Insane percussion work!

cheers boss i tried a few pads but it muddles the bass to much and i reckon it still sounds aiite as a minimal tune so i may leave it... but then again im sure i wont hah

houston Weather
I think the lead needs work, not the sound but the notes, gets a little discordant at times. The second lead / bell that comes in is a bit overpowering. Beefier kick and maybe step back on the percussion a touch. It gets a little messy. Is a solid idea but needs more structure over all.

Dammmmnnn Soooon. On the funk. I actually quite like the intro. Bass all sound nice and juicy. Is a little repetitive, some little fills swung fills will keep in interesting.

Has a bit of a 'bad boys' feel to it. I think the pads are a little loud and muddy and they'd achieve the same further in the mix. Therre seems to be some mad reverb, maybe draw that back a touch.

Really nice percussion. Delays on the kicks are nice. At 3.20 those high things are a bit loud. (i think they are earlier in the track as well). Sounding juicy tho.



Right, took a couple of weeks off and chilled then got asked to remix a track and approached this one very differently. All thats from the original is the lead line that chops in every so often. Its also not been mixed yet and is more just the arrangement and initial idea.

@dubmikey i liked the ambience in the intro. i felt as though it was structured in a strange way but it wasnt really bad just not predictable. i would lower the level of the mids maybe, just as a personal preference. liked the vibe though for sure.
@skerrick, that song is deep as a muh haha. i really like your percussion, and the vibe is just wild. really cool feel with a lot of movement. i usually prefer to keep the bass out till a drop but thats just me. would like more of a build up. fun listen
@burgeamon, interesting tune for sure. i dont like the way the melody is structured in the intro, its a little bit jumpy and just not stable enough for me to really grab on to. sound design on the bassline is very nice, you definitely have good sounds and a creative mind. good progression as well.
this is my new tune at 140, its only an intro/a section, and i had planned on doing more work on the bassline till a friend told me to leave the bassline alone and work on the intro more. lemme know what the dilly is friends.

I didn't see the message. But, I wasn't trying to be sarcastic, I was genuinely thankful- any bit of feedback is helpful so I appreciate that. And thanks man, I might remove one of the melodies to try and fix it up.

Cheeky - "dystinkt-rising" WIP

Not a huge fan of the piano + crowd cheer intro, but that's not a big deal so let's move on to the more interesting part.
On what i'd call the "second intro", I think that the snare sounds a bit to far, like too much reverb on it. Also, i get that because it's the beginning of the track you are not going full-on on the drums but the pattern is pretty static, it could use some variation. I really like the melody and the arp in the background. The buildup could be nice but imo the high pitched perc ruins it. In my opinion it doesn't sound good, but that's subjective. With a more objective point of view, it's way too loud.
The drop has a nice melody, drum pattern is cool, but it sounds like there's a low cut, like there's nothing below 100hz. Can I has bass in my face plz ?


dotcurrency - "dirtydubz sample" WIP

Well what can I say ? It sounds really great overall.
It may lack high end, nothing really shines above 10khz. Kicks felt a little bit too loud too. The sidechain of the low synth in the intro is maybe too big, the "pumping" is really strong.
Melody is catchy and atmospheric, really relaxing. I'm really looking forward for this.


Burgeamon - "PUNX2" WIP

I really liked the writing. The synth riffs are well placed, it sounds really nice, but maybe you could add a delay or something so they don't fade out so suddenly.
Also, I support the comment on soundcloud telling you to add a crash or a reversed riser when the breakdown occurs.
The bass seems to lack a bit of power or presence. I don't know why, but I imagine that a really huge sidechain pump on that bass, according to a muted 4 on the floor kick drum channel, would be insane. It may give that kind of bouncy mood the track lacks. I decline any responsibility in case it sounds like uber shit

Here is something i've been working on lately. Not much, so there's plenty of room for improvement.
It's pretty brostepish/aggressive. I'm obsessed with a track dropped by noisia at ADE this year and since i couldn't get my hands on the ID, I decided to do something that sounded similar (from what I recall).
I did a really quick mix, so tell me what's wrong if you hear something. Don't hesitate to be mean, i'm new to the business and this is one of the way to get better

I like the metal-esq. feel of the tune, pseudo-palm muting and such. Overall the tune could use some more work.
The intro is too long for my taste, i think that 0:55 riff should start at 0:28, and 0:55 riff should be something even more interesting. Not enough hihats, even a simple TsktskTsktsk during your drops would do the trick. Pauses are a bit overused, they are nice once in a while, but when you add them every 5 seconds they get kinda boring, try adding drum fills and such. The structure of the tune is pretty random too.

Intro needs more variety. Try adding a melody or something. You have some nice melody fills at the drop, mb you should develop them into the full melody and use it in the intro section? Hihat pattern is too loud and is kinda robotic. Overall 0:28-0:55 is kinda empty atm. Snare at the drop is too loud.

Drums at the drop are a bit too repetitive, spice them with drum fills, a different kick pattern here and there, a few snare transitions and stuff. Drop itself is kinda repetitive, maybe you should work on your groove a bit more?

My latest WIP named Feather. No mastering done, sausage fattener on master. Liquid Drumstep-ish thing.
