I posted a thread in the house forum about 2 weeks ago and it has 3 replies and 614 views

nailed it.hirszu wrote:I thought I would add my two cents, I'm relatively new to this forum and I mostly visit the General Discussion board as things there seem to be well organized to me, although, I admit, it could be more jokes.
I don't always visit the SNH, so much content being posted here I sometimes get confused and don't have that much time to read everything! Also it sometimes seems too hermetic tbh. When I registered I didn't really know why does something get posted in the SNH and not General Discussion and as a matter of fact I'm still not sure. For example the recent Compa thread, isn't that something music related meant to be posted in GD?
Anyway, this thread was an interesting read. Actually I wasn't aware of the house subforum until now, never checked it before
Sound idea in principle, couple of issues with it though;dubunked wrote:when a new member posts shit in general discussion, and a neckbeard tells him off, why don't u just delete/edit the neckbeard's post?
that'll send the message to other neckbeards - this is what we're talking about. stop making these kinds of posts.
Let's look at a recent example. New user posts the question;dubunked wrote:cause i feel like at the time they don't realize that what they're doing is pushing away prospective new heds.
Now, before we start it's obvious that the above could've been answered by using the Search. So the logical responses would be to tell the new user to use the Search to find such information, or if you're feeling generous doing the search for them and linking a thread or two.shazzabanazza wrote:Just wondering if there is a thread here for Datsik?????

These responses do not fall under the category of "don't realise what they're doing", IMO. This is just being a dick to someone for the sake of being a dick.jaydot wrote:fuck off
To many folk think it's hilarious to effectively spam new user threads like this with abuse just 'because'.OGLemon wrote:these threads may be on interest to youshazzabanazza wrote:Just wondering if there is a thread here for Datsik?????

not practical to do it every time, of course, but just a few times could send the message and change attitudes. actually editing the post would be better than deleting it because then other ppl who came to the thread to do the same thing would see the mod edit.wub wrote:Sound idea in principle, couple of issues with it though;dubunked wrote:when a new member posts shit in general discussion, and a neckbeard tells him off, why don't u just delete/edit the neckbeard's post?

1) It's not practical to be able to monitor every new thread that gets posted in case people are being dicks
2) If we do delete posts because people are being dicks, then we inevitably get called sizan for doing so. Same with warnings/bans etc, some people always seem to be wanting to gestate that 'fight the power' mentality.

I've started with Skrillex and Modestep in 2010 and now I'm fucking embarassed to even think about it. That change is possible though, that's why I'm stating thisi didn't mean they don't realize that they're pushing the new poster away from dsf. that's the reason they made the post obviously. what i meant was that they don't realize that the poster they are telling off could grow up to be a tru hed someday...

lol are you serious? sooooo many ppl like brostep but would be into other stuff if they were simply exposed to it. there are so many people who don't even know about 'deep' dubstep. there's nothing wrong with simply making ppl aware of deeper stuff and then letting them make the choice for themselves.ultraspatial wrote:and this whole attitude of "helping people dig deeper" / "learn to like real dubstep", like fuck off seriously. sounds super pretentious and preachy. definitely guilty of doing in the past myself but w/e
just like what you like and let others like what they like
yeah i'm serious. and i get what you're saying. it's just that you see peeps going on about "educating" the bros like they're the keepers of some secret dubstep knowledgedubunked wrote:lol are you serious? sooooo many ppl like brostep but would be into other stuff if they were simply exposed to it. there are so many people who don't even know about 'deep' dubstep. there's nothing wrong with simply making ppl aware of deeper stuff and then letting them make the choice for themselves.ultraspatial wrote:and this whole attitude of "helping people dig deeper" / "learn to like real dubstep", like fuck off seriously. sounds super pretentious and preachy. definitely guilty of doing in the past myself but w/e

if someone had made ppl aware of deep dubstep, and the ppl didn't like it, and the person still kept at it and just spammed them to fuck, then yeah i'd agree that's pretentious and annoying.
but you'd be surprised i think at the percentage of brosteppas that would be into dubstep if they were simply made aware of it.
Don't be. Just evolve. Also, I bet if you listened to some NEW artists that sound similar to Skrillex ( I hear them all the time, one of my favs is Kairo Kingdom. ) I think what you mean is you obviously you don't want to brag to your friends about Skrillex being so awesome in 2014 but you can find a new producer and be the first of your friends to mention it, and if they blow up, your friends will thank you!!hirszu wrote:I've started with Skrillex and Modestep in 2010 and now I'm fucking embarassed to even think about it. They do indeed and I just meant that I wish I knew about this stuff back then instead of listening to bro sounds for like a year. And getting to know all this deep stuff made me realise what an utter crap those tearout tunes wereultraspatial wrote: lol why? it's just music. and tastes change all the time
