Even for Windows operating systems, this pack took a while to research and compile.

With your knowledge of Linux, perhaps you can compile an equivalent Linux version to be listed in this thread?

I have a vested interest now, as Vojtech (the Melda developer) and I have been helping each other with beta testing/free software etc.

But up until last month (and when I compiled this pack), I was spreading the word about Melda plugins puely because I thought they were great, not because I had any vested interests.

To be fair to Meldaproduction, they produce some damded good plugins. I don't personally like all of them, but some of them are my favourite plugins of their type. (MMultiband Chorus for example is the best chorus I've come across so far)

The reason this pack uses a few Melda plugins are because I felt that they offered the best features and sound out of the freeware available. If you don't like any of the plugins in the pack, you can find freeware alternatives at http://www.gersic.com/plugins/index.php?daCat=-3 or by using the KVR database.

EDIT: I need to update this pack again with the updated versions anyway.

The pack in all its versions has been downloaded over 5250 times since February 2008!

I uploaded the first version of the pack on the 9th of February 2008, which was 840 days ago.

5250 downloads divided by 840 days is 6.25 downloads a day!

Definately time for v4 haha

I'm confused, is this a free version of reaper or just the normal version?

It's the normal version.

Basically, Reaper runs in unlimited 'evaluation' mode until you decide to buy the full licence ($60/£41/€48). All the functions of the program remain the same, except after 30 days you get a nag screen upon start up which counts the number of days Reaper has been installed and takes longer to count each time.

I bought my licence for Reaper after using Reaper in evaluation mode for two years.....

I love the lay out of ShortCircuit (and Surge for that matter) but it doesn't seem to want to work for me. I'm on windows 7, and am assuming it's got something to do with that since it's not being developed anymore.

At one point I think I had a mess with it and got it to make sounds if I recorded (or drew in) midi notes on another track and then dragged that item down into the SC track, but it won't play anything real-time with my axiom25...

Anyone have input? (or another free sample player recommendation)...

Are you using Shortcircuit v1 or v2?

Many people have problems with v2 as it was never finished fully.

Another free sampler to try is DiscoDSP Halflife.

Just out of interest, what's inspiring you to try this when you use Ableton normally??

dunno, just felt like exploring new software to see if i could do as much with it as i can with ableton.

also: to see if this little suite is worth recommending to my friends who want to learn EDM production

Just remember that you can Alt-Click-Drag the edge of a sample to time stretch it, and that you can set the stretch algorithm by selecting a sample and pressing F2.

man i'm so glad i found this thread, last friday my mac died a horrible death (i had it in my backpack with a bottle of soda i had just bought and the fucker decided to leak onto my laptop before i even drank a single drop of it ) and now everything's gone. i still have reason lying around and a friend has ableton but i hate ableton and i'm not fond of reason either.

and now i found this! i'm so excited to give this a try, i've already installed reaper and wondered what plugins i should download but tadaa, you did it

thank you a thousand times futuresuntold, you saved me from days of hunting for free plugins. (though i'll forever miss es2, exs24 and logic's space designer )

actually, that's the plan
i'll doodle around with the free plugins in the next days to see if i'm really willing to make that switch. it's a shame for all the workflow i've gotten used to in the last years but honestly i'm a lazy fucker who opened up logic every couple of weeks, i guess starting over again ain't a bad idea after all

too sad there's no way of extracting logic's plugins and turning them into vst's though.

you can't rewire into reaper, right? that way i'd save lots of money, still have reason 3.0 lying around here (dont think its worth anything on ebay but i dont want it collecting dust either)
