I think I got you at like 65% :)

Yeah, for me... I've got health issues that prevent me from working on music as much as I'd like. So, I kind of have to accept some limitations. But I've exclusively been doing TUNA! for the past few months, maybe 6 months? We've been TUNA!ing for how long? I think 5 or 6 months. Anyways, I've been exclusively TUNA!ing. Actually, there have been like three tracks that I really liked, but were not finishable in the TUNA! timeframe, so I left them, I would like to go back to them, but (jeez sorry for my language) all of my TUNA! output is very rough sketches. I know I can go back and make things a lot better. Even just at the arrangement level, just switching things around would make stuff a lot better.

The only trick is, the longer I work on something, the shittier it gets, you know? So my challenge would be to go back to those old projects and push them further without crashing them, and I have almost always gone back and crashed things when I push them further... so that'd be my challenge. But that is what I'd like to confront.

There are dope producers in the TUNA! I really do think we should do the comp.

Oh, yeah, I'm not so worried about my mixes or masters. I really don't care that much about that stuff. I do care about the songs themselves, and it is at that level that I KNOW I can make improvements. I'm sure the mixes could get a lot better though, and maybe in the context of a compilation, we could get really specific and nitpicky across all of our various monitoring environments, and really polish up our tracks, collectively. I know you have really good ears Bud, that could kind of be your thing.

I've got a family member who is just starting his design studio and can do up to four color screen prints. If we'd like to do a small cd release, or cassette release, that'd be dope. I've looked into doing the cassette thing, have sourced affordable cassettes and what not... it is another option. I know you were thinking about a digital release, a physical would be nice too. Trust me, I have releases from long long ago, and digi stuff just disappears. It is almost like the physical is MORE persistent than the digital, which is kind of counter intuitive, but, for me, seems to be the way it is. Love the way physical shit turns up. Open up an old box, and there is that tape, or cd, or lp from way back when....

But I can do the physical stuff, if we want to go that way. I can manage it. The artwork, printing, burning, duping, mailing. I'd be happy to do that. (on a very limited scale! Like 25-50, or if for some reason there was a lot of interest from somewhere, a 100, but that is stretching it!)

65 enough for me :W:

i agree overall

but yeah digital can spread like wildfire or burn aslong as a matchstick

and a real print would be nice no doubt but first we have to have tunes :H:

Well sometimes you build the path, and people will walk it. I honestly don't think I have it in me right now to stop all production, and focus on a couple of old songs, UNLESS there is like a real world objective. I honestly feel like I'm wasting time, or cheating somehow going back working on old stuff. I only have one direction, FORWARD. But you know. I'd do it for a real project.

yeah

i mean i had my thoughts why people wouldnt participate
maybe its not worth the effort you know i mean maybe they wanna save there tunes for sth bigger or the tunes dont represent them 100 percent cause of the short timeframe

i always loved compilations
cause when i found out about lets say italo disco the first thing i grapped where compilations so i knew ok this band is more about fun or this would be the deeper side of italo disco ( there is one)

If the compilation is just a compilation of TUNA songs I would be done for putting something in for it. I'm not really saving anything for anything. I would probably want to put in something new though. Not something I've already uploaded.

i hear you man

i guess i'd be up for the comp idea, but then again i've been saying i'd make an EP for months now and can't seem to get myself to pick up a few projects and actually put the work to "finish" them... regarding what nwj said about going fwd>>>, idk how much of this state of mind is a cop out (at least in my case) as in an excuse not to put the work to polish stuff to a level i'm happy with and put it out there somehow. i like the problems i face in front of a blank project more than the problems i face when i have to make decisions within the constraints of what's already there...

on the plus side i'll be unemployed again in the beginning of june :h: more time for (hopefully finishing some) TUNA!

Well... you have to figure out why you are making music. Really knuckling down and putting in the effort to finish tunes, polish them, perfect them... if you like that process, go for it, but I don't see that there is all that much need to do that. I don't even know what it means to release something in this day and age. There is just so much good music everywhere. Really quality tunes just disappear. What happened with Bud's release? Did it sell anything? Did it gain notoriety? There were really quality tunes in there, and they just evaporate into the ether. Releasing seems pretty pointless to me.

It is more fun to get a project going, it is more fun watching the first half hour of a movie, it is more fun to find a cute girl and fall in love with her, but all of that has, like, work on the backside, and you should probably only stick with it if there is some kind of compensation.

Otherwise, why not just keep falling in love and when it gets real, and difficult, ditching it, and moving on to the next?

It is really dark, I suppose? Maybe it is. I just have a hard time imagining my music, or any of our music, actually going out into the world and touching people, having any kind of impact at all.

And in all honesty, I'm making music for only two people, myself, because it is fun and I am vain, and for my daughter, so that she might know me in an adult way, in a mature, in a deeply personal way when I'm gone and we can no longer talk. She can know her unfinished, passionate father. That means a real lot to me.

hm yeah most music i love i had to find more or less cause it wasnt really big artist not really unknown but not like super huge either but that was before this soundcloud time soundcloud kinda destroys really listening to sth haha

on the release thing
its sth to give to friends or people who ask me when i say i make music like here its a bunch of tunes that fit together( more or less )and its fun to work on an album.

and the speaking to people thing its tricky
if its your goal to speak to people you maybe make dif choices than when you just make sounds
like i hate when i hear tunes that really scream to be felt but where made by the manual and people feel them cause its designed to be felt

the question would be i think if you wanna take the time to go back to old tunes while you have ideas for new ones and there is a great chance nobody will give a fuck anyways when done :i:

Yes, this is it.

With that said, I'm still willing to go back and really push some tracks, mostly because it is new for me, it would be going forward, even if it is in a backwards direction :)

:3 yeah i would say everybody who is interested in the comp sends in a tune he started in the tuna or if sb wants to enter with a new one just says like that would be my entry so we can work on those tunes on the side and keep it in the same thread

Anyone else having problems loading some of the tracks? Bud's second track and Zosomagik's second track will not load. Even clicking on the link it tells me there was a problem loading the track.
