Recently watched 'This Short Films Of David Lynch'.
Was pretty good, but I was expecting there to be alot more of his work on there.

t'was pretty damn shit, i went in the cinema expecting some next level i robot business, the whole concept of the film sounds great but it just failed on so many levels, the acting's pretty shit, there is no feeling for the character's as there basically all emotionless except for Bruce Willis who is pretty darn emotionless anyways, trust me on this, watch district 9 instead im probably gonna watch that tomorrow to redeem my love for movies

just been to watch district 9 and have to say it was SOOOO FUCKIN EPICCC! i should really post this in the epic films thread but anyways it was just spot on, the tension and the characters were great and you actually felt for the aliens. Anyways after watching surrogates and then watching this i would definitely go for district 9 if your stuck between the two, seriously surrogates was soooooo soooooooo shit compared to district, so go and see it!! 8)

Antichrist, the latest from Lars von Trier.
I was waiting for this one for a couple years now, and I thought it was fucking amazing. A really beautifully done film in my opinion, with some amazing visuals, and a lot of symbolism regarding to the plot. The opening sequence alone (titled Prologue) was very captivating and extremely well done.

It's not a normal "horror movie" though, it's more a like a hybrid avante garde art film mixed with a psychological horror film, and it's very slow paced which is why a lot of people seem to hate it and called it boring. Most people's attention spans are just far too short these days... myself included, unless it involves something like this.

I honestly don't know why Ebert called it a "slap in the face to the audience" or why people supposedly "fainted" at the film festival. It's not shocking at all in my opinion, but maybe i'm just more jaded than I thought lol, and i'm not offended at seeing sex like some people seem to be according to some reviews I read.

If you enjoyed films from Andrei Tarkovsky (to whom this film is dedicated) such as Stalker, the film Possession (the 80's one with Sam Neill), The Shining, or other Von Trier films, I would definitely recommend this. It seems almost like an homage to Tarkovsky in some ways. Goes nice with a spliff or 2 as well.

amazingly weird cronenberg flick...hilarious at times as well...james woods is wicked

Image

beautiful and original...a little bit ghey at times as a lot of modern manga is though...featuring a pumping soundtrack put together by paul oakenfold lol...although tbf he did choose some dead can dance

Image

tremendous...hard hitting gritty portrayal of i imagine the lives of pro wrestlers...aronofsky is on top form again
