Well, the club was founded by an Irish catholic and was seen as almost a refuge for the Irish catholic immigrant population of Glasgow, so it does have its Irish roots.

If Celtic go and win the SPL by like 30 clear points or something, surely they'll finally be allowed to join the premiership

Yeah, you'd think, but the rest of the SPL clubs vote on it and there's no way they're gonna vote for the old firm (aka 80%+ of their seasons revenue) to move. I'm pretty sure a number of premiership clubs vote on it too.
I'm just glad we still have a Champions League spot tbh!

If Celtic left, Scottish Football would be on its knees. The SPL would not let them go without a massive fight. Also, The Prem cannot just 'let them join the Prem'...there is a structure of promotion and demotion. It would cause havoc and enrage a lot of people (pretty much every Football League club who have earned their places by working their way through the league structure). Won't happen imo.

You never know, there might be spaces in the prem if they ever create that European super league (which would be a load of shit by the way)

If they just let teams change country because they win all the time, that would be the first step to a european super league (not that I'm bothered, all the big teams can fuck off) and it would just be wrong. Swansea/Cardiff, etc. are in there because there was no professional Welsh league system in place at the time.
If Celtic move, what's to stop say, PSV/Ajax etc. saying they're bored of playing in Holland, can we come and play in the UK?

If you manage to get David Moyes in as a replacement like the bookies are saying (I can't see it myself), you'll have a far better manager.
what makes you think that?

Yeah, there's a number of issues with us moving and I just don't see it happening (and as you say it doesn't exactly seem very fair). It's been the same problem for years, big fish in a small pond.

Apart from the obvious question of why the English Premier League, why not the Dutch league?

Shame Mouriniho has just signed a contract extension TBH, he might've fancied it otherwise.

They'll struggle to keep Modric and Bale at the club now...

Agreed...almost feel sorry for Spurs the way they lost out on CL football.
But then I remind myself that Harry Redknapp is a massive tnuc and the feeling subsides.

Well, it's pretty obvious really, Celtic is based in Glasgow and the Premiership is based in England, easier to make it to away games, easier for fans to make it to our ground.
Also, on the Redknapp issue, really strange seeing him on telly during the Euros, talking about the Tottenham job and now he's gone
