nice man. exactly how I like reese basses. how did you made it? saw + some digital waveform in massive, notch filter, saturate? Or is it just wavetable modulation?
2 saws and the kanga wavetable, although it sounds almost identical without the kanga wt. Double notch filter into a bandpass, both being automated to create the main movement. Tons of distortion with camelphat, ohmicide, sausage fattener, some vocodex and soundgoodizer haha.
What did di you use as vocodex modulator?

Nothing, I had the vocoder set to some strange settings by accident which made the sound cleaner, but also quiet as hell, so I boosted the sound with a camelphat. Having a hard time figuring out the explanation for what the vocoder really did to the signal, all I know is that it sounded badass afterwards

It's decent but it's not very unique or inspiring. That's just my opinion though and I'm sure other people here and on yt will enjoy your tutorial(s).

I made a reese synth in Max for Live which I use for all mine. "Fertilize" detunes 2 of the 3 saws and "Mow" runs them through a series of distortion algorithms. It automatically sends audio through several rounds of light detuning/distortion to give it a fat sound right out of the box.

Fucker took me some sleepless nights to design :H:

So when are you going to make a download? Looks pretty sick imo and the theory behind it is pretty handy for making a quick reese but could we get a demo of it? Maybe we can get some one or I can do some gui stuff to make it look nice and sleek when you want to do a real release of it.

A plugin like this already exists? And maybe if you listened to wolfcry's track (anybody?) you would have figured that out by now because his track is actually featured on the page as the "demo" track for the VST, in other words his song that he posted earlier, that was so blatantly ignored, was the example that the developers asked him to write to debut the plugin.

Here is the original upload by the plugin developers:

Here is the website:
www.digitalsonicaudio.com/product/mr-reese/

I have the plugin, for the shit it can pull off it is fucking cheap as dirt. I highly reccommend it. It is super underground but gaining popularity.

Also props to wolfcry for putting together such a masterpiece of a track with such limiting requirements? And the plugin has hell of a lot better of a gui.

this is mad fishy. nobody, including wolfcry, said anything at all about this VST, so how could you have expected anyone to have figured this out? how did YOU figure this out?

I am a mad fishy, he probably would have said something if someone had made a note of his post existing. I just feel bad for him, i mean i hate putting myself out there and people just ignoring me like i don't exist. I figured it out because i clicked on his track and found the repost of the Mr. Reese plugin? then i read up on the plugin and then i sent him a personal message about what was up with that and he responded very gracefully. Anyway, its not so much that im angry i just feel bad when things like that just get ignored. I mean maybe if he got some good feedback he would have shared his findings. Plus it sounds really good and i think he worked hard. And im sure he came to this forum excited to share some tips.

Either way, im not transparent i have my reasons and it was just kinda stupid.
I would look into the plugin though. Anyway im out peace. :corndance:

This is a song that has a least 12 different versions to it, but this time I finally got the right ting.

Here's a tip: When making your reese with all its modulations, you'll probs think it sounds out of tune with your track (Unless you perfectly map out all modulations). Try chopping up your reese and add different variations of it (Make one -100 pogo'd or reverse it) and then add other reeses from your dragged sample library, it really works if you put enough work to it :D

Harmor Tip: Square+ HZ Unison Setting=Pure Metallic Reese

Shit dude... no need to get mad this wasn't the way i wanted stuff to go by posting my track. Just wish people would have the decency to reply. So if you can guys, let me know how you like it instead of just ignoring it? I mean im down to respond to your tracks, just kinda sucks i dont' think my post was noticed until that big... inflammation.

Harmor + Pretty much no processing (FF Saturn 3rd Preset, that's it) + No Resampling. Idk if these basses count as reeses though.

Basically:
Saw -24 + Unison on 2, almost minimum pan, a little pitch and mess with the phase
Make Filter 1 a phaser and assign an envelope to it to change slowly over time (complete the envelope in maybe 10 seconds or whatever)
Then put an lfo on the volume and use the log distortion and prism.
All these basses are variations of the wobble thing, you can make nice basses using the phaser as the filter :corndance:

Oh my god. That is probably, to my ears, the best thing ever posted in this thread.
HOW did you make this? Shit. Shit. You rule.

I made my first neurohop track, basses were resampled twice then bounced into a granulizer. If the sample stops at a time you don't intend it to be, then restart the note and you'll get a crazy sound, for example I reset a note because it stopped suddenly and I got this crazy phased rolling reese sound.

Sure, here's what it sounds like. I don't know if I'll ever release it, its not really polished enough and as others have pointed out, there are better alternatives. I mostly made it to give my own sounds a distinct foundation before I start resampling.

Thanks man :) That means a ton to me :D
I used a plugin called Mr. Reese. They let me debut the plugin if i could create a track purely from their synth, not including drums :) And i did and now its the "model" of the plugin!
Glad you liked it :)

As someone who's just getting into reeses do you think you could guide me through what you did for this sound so I can learn a little bit about reeses from someone that clearly knows what they're doing?
