MicroBrute is dope. I'm glad I got this. I knew there was a reason. I've gotten some sounds out of this. The CV mod matrix is nice and the sequencer on here is great.
Nowaysj, this is not the same as the Mini.

My only complaint is no noise oscillator. Would probably make some banging percussion if it did.

Spent the morning blinded by the passing sun, just rocking a cutoff knob. A couple of hours.

Since when are you making trance?

Forever, if we can rename trance to shmaltz, and name real actual zoned music trance.

Dudes, the Volca Sampler... it is creeping up on me. Any downsides to that little beauty?

I've def got Gas for that volca sampler myself...
I had this strange dream where they came out with a tiny little volca sized mixing desk/summing box to connect the boxes together and it was pretty great; hope it becomes a reality someday.

Fuck you, seriously, get out of my mind. Literally spent an hour thinking about that this afternoon. First the belted synth knobs and now this. I know you haven't defeated my faraday cage.

I have heard that you still do this by outputting noise into the external input. But, yes I agree with, noise would have been a good addition.

Interesting. I guess I could also resample and layer. Maybe I'll just play a blank cassette into it or something
But I got a Nord Drum when the MKI's got blown out a while. 99USD. Super fast percussion synth. Not super useful live (one mono output and only four parts). I use that for a lot of my percussion these days. So easy to program!

Okay, here is one:
Just came downstairs to shut down, left everything up in the vain hope that I could get down here to work tonight. No luck. But when I got down here, it was noisy, I was like, "Waz?"
So I sit down, and I'm like is the volca really that noisy? And I turn down the volume, it doesn't affect the noise. So I go noise hunting, and in so doing, I discover that when I touch the volca, it is sending that out as audio. So I scrape my finger nail against the nurled nobs, and it is totally loud. I'm like, "Waz?" So I start yelling at it, and yep, it transmits my voice.
I think in the sound I'm making, I'm inducing current by driving that little minispeaker. That current is somehow leaking into the audio out. Here is a clip of some noise, the little zip zips is me scraping my fingernail, and the shouting is me yelling at the volca bass. (I had to move my daughter's mattress all the way downstairs into my room because I scared her. She thought someone broke into the house...)
Soundcloud
So, like if you played in a club, tell me you wouldn't get WICKED feedback off this thing? Has anyone discussed this problem?

Hahaha dying at the 'what the hell?'
Thats really strange though, I've played my volca beats here through a hefty soundsystem (much louder than a finger nail scrape or ya voice) and have had no problems.
You can always just open it up and snip the leads of the internal speaker tho.
(I would just snip the leads and solder in a simple on/off switch tho because I like using mine with the likkle speaker sometimes)
PS with some deep bass and a few dubby cords you've got a poor man's basic channel track going there

So you can only input samples via an iOS app? That sucks.
It sounds really cool though. I'm liking the whole line of Volcas. I might try to get them all at some point.

Yea. You can't directly sample into it or load samples via an SD card. However, Caustic of Android App fame has already made an Android App to upload samples to it. I think its clear that Korg are aiming these Volcas at a different generation of musicians. Musicians who don't sample from vinyl and who are more likely to dig for and share samples exclusively over the web.
I have to say though since I bought an iPad almost every time I think of buying gear I tell myself "Well, I know there is a good app for that..."

Yeah, it would just be another piece of gear that I would need to buy. Up to now, I've tried to avoid Apple products.
Although, I hear you guys talk about producing on your iPads. How is it as an instrument?

I did some sound and interface design for Retronyms, they've been working with Korg for quite some time integrating korg into the ipad world. Korg has been the leader as far as I'm concerned.
I remember I was in their offices, saw the monotribe for the first time, long before it was announced. I was BLOWN away. I've bottled up my gear lust for a long time. I really didn't realize these Volcas are a year and half old? Two years? Time has flown!
