I really like a lot of Machinedrums music, but as far as I know, he doesn't really DJ traditionally with decks, he uses an iPad and gadgets, is that what a live set is? Or will there be people there with actual instruments (ew!)?

Yes. In my opinion not that interesting musically, but he basically takes
his studio methods on the road which is really cool. New stuff every year too.

everyone immediately posts kink
but hes lame too imo
boring tech house
live stuff sounds ok when im sitting in my comfy chair on the computer, but when i hear the same bassline for 10 minutes at 1:00 am & im not outside my mind on drugs it sucks dick

people go nuts for em too, most of em are so fucking boring
lone did a live set here, had every annoying synth stab loop going for like 15 minutes at a time and the venue was more packed than ive ever seen it. and then it promptly cleared 10 minutes into tessela's (brilliant) dj set

yea ive yet to see one that i prefer over a dj set
especially when its a big name who should have exclusive shit to spin, its almost selfish to do a live set (that sounds like a really dickheaded thing to say but something like that yea)

true that. i don't think i've ever seen a live set but from what i've seen on videos DJ sets look much more entertaining but ofc there will be some exceptions.

d'jo from tekk djz does a cool live dj thing where he uses cues & ableton to fuck around w the tunes hes playing
Its pretty cool, he seems to keep it in moderation
but its still totally focused on playing tracks, so its much more like a dj than a "live" set tbf

No bias here. The other guys aren't focused on playing tracks.
This is cool

Shackleton is unbelievable live, was blown away and fits his style perfectly.

Yeah but to me it still felt like another DJ set with effects but still good.

i need to see more, definitely shackleton and livity
but there's something about dj live sets that's like hip hop with a live band for me, just immediately the anti boner
