scene won't matter, I will probably be in downtown for the most part but willing to go where its good.

Angel City Brewery if you want to drink local and hang with the hipsters
Weiland Brewery is alright for prices / selection, just don't order any food (bleh) and expect it to get packed later on in the night
Eagle Rock Brewery is a great hidden gem if you want to escape the city (aka a bit of a drive)
those are just off the top of my head, ill update if I think of anywhere better

Angel city is new right? Last time I was there it was closed :/. I had that dutchess at this German sausage place right next to it that had only Belgian and german beers on tap. It was called something like werschutche.

I'm kind of into Doppelbocks. These are two of my German standbys.

Local package store is selling Sagres Bohemia for $5 a six pack, which is a crazy deal for a pretty decent import, usually the shitty american beers are that cheap. The bottle says it is an amber beer, but as the link describes it definitely has a bock taste to it. Not the most amazing beer, but for the price I am loving it.

Rattlesnake and rabbit sausage! And any of the sweet, malty Belgian beers.
My favorite at Eagle Rock Brewery is the Stimulus.
