Environmental scientists, as well as many others, tend to doubt fluoridation. In the United States, scientists employed by the Environmental Protection Agency have publicly disavowed support for their employer's pro-fluoridation policies [73]. The orthodox medical establishment, rather weak or even ignorant on environmental issues, persist in their support, as do most dentists, who tend to be almost fanatical about the subject. In English- speaking countries, unfortunately, the medical profession and its allied pharmaceutical lobby (the people who sell fluoride) seem to have more political influence than environmentalists.

Cool. Did my own research quite a while ago, came to the conclusion it was much a do about nothing, but it didn't matter because generally, flouridation is outlawed in my country anyway. I grew up with flouridated water and appear to have turned out ok.

The prozac thing interested me last night, but having done a bit of research I'm fairly happy with it.

According to the World Health Organization, in combination with certain other factors (e.g., sub-optimal nutrition, kidney disease, etc.), a chronic fluoride intake of between 2.0 and 8.0 mg/day can produce the pre-clinical stage of skeletal fluorosis, a debilitating and/or crippling bone disease. The pre-clinical and early stages of skeletal fluorosis can be mistaken for arthritis. See skeletal.htm and click on "HUMAN". It is noteworthy to mention that in the table below the charts (Table 4B), many 6-mo-old infants are receiving a fluoride intake in mg/kg/day which equals the dose known to cause crippling skeletal fluorosis in adults if maintained.

If these papers you're posting have any truth in them, do you not think what they say will be taken into account? I mean, for instance; the paper you posted was a study of country X that put Xppm into the water. So when they do that here, there or wherever, they would change the ppm accordingly.

With a bit of research on him, you can see one of his other professions is hunting a giant flightless bird called a MOA which has been extinct for almost 600 years.

Remember, children should spit out toothpaste after brushing to avoid getting too much fluoride. If too much fluoride is ingested, a condition known as fluorosis can occur. If your child is too young or unable to spit out toothpaste, consider providing them with a fluoride free toothpaste, using no toothpaste, or using only a "pea size" amount of toothpaste.
