quality tunes from everyone this time. was outta town and missed the deadline. meh. nothing i do compares to the first track though. dudamn. a 3 minute lesson in song structure.

Very true, excellent structure. I still voted for strawberry swirl just to be stupid though.

Shitting bugger balls, missed the deadline. I could've sworn I'd read that the deadline was the 28th of May... :(

Well I did make a track for this one so if any of you get the time please have a listen and say what you think so that I haven't wasted 6 hours of my life.

Personally I voted for Memories of Garage, because... It brought back memories of garage I suppose :roll: lol, enjoyed listening to all of the tracks though, the ones that really stood out for me were The Goose that got away, Strawberry swirl and roots.

'Strawberry Swirl' - Really nice, liked the beat and the melodic bassline, good sound to it, nothing too loud or too quiet, well done :).

'The Goose that Got away' - this one caught my ear very easily, loved the rhythmic pattern of the bass, went very well with the beat, just a really good groove on this track, reminds me of ramadanman. Well done again.

Really liked the feel of 'roots', nice and chilled up until the sort of drop kinda thing, which i think could've been made much better than it was, but in general it had a good sound to it.

I thought 'Star Sailing' had a very unique atmospheric sound in the beginning, had me prepared for either an absolute rinser or something clubroot/burial-esque. I think the drop kinda suited it well, but when the ambience dissappeared at 1:10 i think it kind of lost its' appeal. Just an opinion though :)

'Don't Judge' was nice and funky, had a good summery vibe to it, especially liked when the snare came in towards the end and 2:05ish, the bass that follows it a little later really went well, I think if that had been introduced earlier it would've done a lot better.

'Kone' was all a bit random for me, it had a nice little melodic ambience to it, but can't say I liked it that much... But again, that's just an opinion.

'Night Shift' - Nice to hear some drum n bass coming out, can't say it was my kind of thing but still good to have some variation, really liked the little break before the drop and throughout it aswell.

'Desecrate' was good, but if it was all a bit louder and heavier i think it could definately do some damage.

Really nice track unwind, the best use of the vocals in my opinion. Shame you missed the deadline though, i would probably rank it 2nd. Thanks for all the feedback too :w:

Big up - that tune was top notch and showed that you can make a complete song - with parts and not just an endless loop - and make it all work in three minutes or less.

Static Cast, what's your production rig setup if you don't mind me asking?

Glad people enjoyed it. :) I'm working on a 5-6 minute edit now which is actually turning out to be a lot harder -- I found 3 minutes a really fun length to play with. It's the classic pop song length after all.

I'm running a Macbook Pro with Ableton 8, Komplete 6, Maschine, a reel to reel, a couple of MIDI controllers and some microphones and instruments (used to be a drummer). Monitoring over KRK VXT8s and some very old but still nice Sennheiser cans, Ovation 580HDs I think.

The Goose That Got Away was actually done using only Ableton and the bundled instruments/fx, no VSTs or outboard.
