Yeah DQ is a proper shit venue. Its coz the bar is in a stupid place so people are constantly walking across the dancefloor.
Raziel wrote:Possibly, holding out for J:kenzo and Sleeper at DQ on the 14th of April, thats gonna be a big one!
Shit didn't know that. What a night. Need to persuade some of my mates to get on this, no really feels dubstep anymore in in my friendship group except me :(

Btw Channel One and Congo Natty are at o2 academy on 31st. Then Mungos hi fi the month after :corndance:
Yeah Boom Ting at 02 should be sweet, my mate is doing the sound for one of the rooms.

As for DQ, i think the crowd will be relatively cool for a Reggae/Dubstep/Jungle night, it's called 'Roots' and the launch party is the J:Kenzo and Sleeper event, followed by Jack Sparrow and Commodo the month after. It'l be on a totally different vibe to the normal DQ shit, talking about live art inside, stuff like that.

As well, if anyone's into him, i'm not really anymore, but Stenchman is playing at Yellow arch this Saturday, big 4 room event, multiple soundsystems, squire of gothos, off me nut etc

And I also got told that Author will be playing at the Harley in May :W:

Grievous Angel

A bit of a legend in the Garage, Dubstep and UK Funky world-Grievous Angel has been around to have witnessed all the foundations of what fuels todays music scene. GA has remixed the likes of Dusk & Blackdowns-Margins Music into a DJ set, contributed to the blogging world in various formats and even co-edits 'Woofah Magazine' a zine dedicated to Reggae, Grime and Dubstep!
We are expect some prime cuts of underground UK music!

You can check out his next release on Forefront Records here

Clientele

Clientele are a newly formed duo consisting of 2 19 year olds Squarehead and True Fiction.

Having grown individually as producers and DJ's playing all over Sheffield and beyond, Clientele naturally came together to create a new wave of "pure club music"

With tracks already being heavily supported by Monki, Mista Men, DJ Q, Melé, Bobby Champs and TOYC, alongside numerous plays on Rinse FM and Radio 1xtra, Clientele are only just getting started.

DMK

One of Sheffield busiest and most versatile DJs, DMK can be caught at various places round the city playing all forms of music! Wether it be Hip-Hop down at UGLY or more Bass and house based vibes at Suckerpunch, the guys got the tunes and knows how to keep a crowd on the dancefloor!

Muskman

The brains behind 'It's a Myth' Muskmans taken a little 'hiatus' recently to work on finishing some productions, you can expect to hear these along side some cuts of the freshest grime, garage and house.

Mensa Jargon V.A

Runs Cheese On Bread Records and one of the Resident DJs. Likes; Loud Bassy Music, Jack daniels, Gangbanger Hand Signs. Dislikes; McDonalds Breakfast, Vegetables and Sambuca.

Shinobi(MC)

Coming from a background heavily influenced by hip-hop which later warped into a love for garage, Shinobi is no stranger to hosting sets and we can expect he will keep things ticking quite nicely!

Also I agree with you fassyman & raziel, but DQ has hosted some big nights - I just think it need's a re-work (new system, re-think on the lighting) & it'll be the 'spot'.
Roots made DQ upstairs a totally a different vibe & it was sick, it aint about cussin venues that host/push good music.

i agree that the layout of the bar at dq isn't great (pretty stupid), and some of the decor and lights are a bit cheesy. we had the lights off for most of the night anyway.

not sure you have grounds for a gripe about the system though? ok its not fabric but it sounds pretty good to me (fucking hell when paul woolford dropped lolita it sounded amazing), they don't seem to have a resident sound engineer so you have to be prepared to soundcheck beforehand with the artists and tweak it if your putting a night on there

i still think overall its a good venue though, else i wouldn't do nights there

better than a lot of venues in london as well

Feels like there's a bit to much high end on that downstairs system & upstairs is a situation, it sounded bwad when 20hz had there way with it mind you.
When they switched the stage for tramlines & youngsta donned it felt like a different venue! (in a good way).

Agreed <20Hz sounded awesome upstairs! 4 hogs was insane. I didn't think of Roots being a DQ night because it isn't, it's a private event put on by the Roots Crew and its totally different to any other night up there - shed load of decor and a complete refix on the sound makes a huge difference, not to mention the fact that everyone there is just absolutely vibing :D

Big ups to everyone who made it down last Saturday, :Q: Ray Keith for next month!! :corndance:

Just throwing it out there, i'd like to see breach in Sheffield again - caught him at soup kitchen a few back, hes killing it right now.

There is a fair few nights that aren't put on by DQ staff that are at DQ - it's a venue.

Props on the Ray Keith booking, is that at Roots then?

I'll mention Breach to the rest of the crew and see what the score is booking wise. Same with any other artists, this night is for the heads so we want to put on what they want to hear; any suggestions will definitely be looked in to.

Yeah Ray Keith will be at Roots, supported by Phatworld (Offmenut) b2b Grimaz (Rubberdub) i believe.

I don't think Breach would suit Roots, but he's a killer DJ/Producer.

I 2nd that, Roll With The Punches will be a percy for my entire life.

Objekt has the ruffest bassline in his productions, heavy.
