I'm using Reason so any tips with that would be appreciated :)

Sounds like it could be achieved by using maelstroms's Waveform number 20 (in MOD A) and the sweeping square grain in one of the oscillators...
maybe fatten it with a sine underneath... drag the sweeping square index all the way to the right, turn motion to zero and mess with MOD A's index oscillations to achieve the mellowish womp and then lightly add some digital distortion

Hey everybody(: Please don't give me too much crap about the whole "trying to get his/her sound" thing. Anyway, Kill the Noise is super hot, and I love his tracks. I was wondering how to make a big kick and very short and punchy snare, like in his track "Kill Kill Kill". Thanks a lot!

Tips for more interesting/creative basslines?

Hey guys, lately I have been listening to a TON of grimey stuff, like mark instinct (no pun intended), nostalgia, and vannin. They all seem to have one bass pattern, which repeats itself, and maybe changing the sound every few bars.

This is not a 'how to make that sound' question, so please don't move it :)

But what I was wanting some tips or insight on how these basslines are made?

Is it mainly pitch bends or the massive performer? stuck.

Here's an example:

Thanksssss !

take the note you want on the patch you'd like. Record it.

Load it into a sampler and play it back at the root note. Pitch bend and apply a pitch envelope if your sampler has one. Record this output tastefully and assemble the resulting waveforms into cool phrases. Repeat.

Hey,

I've made sub bass's before using sine waves, but they are never come out as planned. I'm looking to create the dark, deep, brooding style sub bass that artist's such as TRUTH. It can't just be a pure sine wave with a low pitch,

Any help would be so awesome :)

Overdrive the sine wave, low pass so you only have a few low harmonics, add saturation and light compression.

In Lost and Hatcha - Al Barsha im interested in making that deep subby kinda womp sound if you get what i mean. I have a feeling it requires the Envelope in some way as well as the LFO but i've tryed this before and i haven't got close to it. Anyone else got ideas?

As for Badklaat - Zonk dem i understand thats a vocal bass which requires bitcrushing and or Sample and Hold in NI Massive but again tryed it and have had no luck. Not sure if it's even possible to remake this because Badklaat uses Reason and i use NI Massive.

As for Exponaut - E621/ Dream - Go hard i've got the basics of using the Vibrato to give it the effect the bass has but not the actual bass itself. I do know that Dream uses NI Massive and i would think Exponaut uses it as well because Dream's is kinda similar to it if not a little bit different.

As for Gemini - Elevate i've had a crack at trying to make a Gemini like bass before and haven't had any luck again and i would have thought Gemini uses NI Massive as well but not just NI Massive as im sure he puts some filters on his basses to make them sound like that.

I use FL Studio and NI Massive so if Plugins are required to make the bass then im able to install and use them easily.

Thanks in advance to anyone that helps :)

Is this a gating effect?

Hello everyone.

I wanted to ask everyone a question about dubstep and synth lead technique.

I was recently listening to Dubba Jonny- Home VIP ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxIpSr6p3zM ) and in the beginning, there is a soft synth that plays. However, at the beginning of each note, there is a "bounce"/soft attack effect. I have tried to just play around with the ADSR settings but I couldn't really get the same results. It seems like there's a soft attack but a delay or ping-pong effect applied to just that attack portion.

I was wondering how this can be achieved. I was thinking that it may be a gating effect applied in addition to the ADSR but I am not too sure.

I am currently using Pro Tools 9 but more than how this can be achieved in this program, I am moreso wondering what sorts of filters or effects can be used to get this delayed soft attack.

If anyone has an idea of how this works, I would appreciate your input.

Thanks.
