one of the most important things ive learned about producing is: dont get high before you produce if you wanna get shit done.

When I was mic-ing up a drum kit for uni, I thought I had done such a bosch job on the kickdrum using three different mics including a subkick...only to realise after that one of the cradles had slipped and one of the mics was pointing straight up at the ceiling :s Ah well, rookie mistake, it was the first time in a studio alone and my work partner shirked off and didn't even come in!

Hah my uni recording module last year had some bad ones, recorded drums with no phantom power on the ambient room mic, forgot to actually position the mic on the bass amp cabinet (it was just sitting in the same room while i got stuff set up and i never pointed it at the actual speaker cone lol) but by some stroke of luck the bass track somehow sounded pretty good

Haha same. But the sounds that came from such thoughtless fx chains were way more mental and hard hitting than any of my newer, more thought out sounds.
