Actually, this attitude is the problem with DSF. Why should everyone support the same "original" dubstep? Can't people just support what they wanna support and create an environment where it's ok to listen to and support everything that you like?

I'm quite sure people's attitudes about brostep have only solidified other people's love for that sound, anyway. If you try to impose something on people, they'll only resist harder and they only associate the 'deep sound' with a bunch of elitist pricks. So why would they wanna be apart of that?

The problem isn't that the 'good ol' days' are gone, it's that people do everything in their power to stay in the good ol' days.

Pkay, coming with tact as ever. Nobody's lined anything with anything. There are many, many great threads out there. As Fractal said, it would be awesome if every thread was just filled with people interested and invested in the topic. Again, to say that everything devolves into a tit-for-tat argument is simply untrue. Look at the Dungeon Sound thread fairly recently for an example of what happens when somebody expresses an opinion that goes against that of the majority of the participants. To me, it seems like it's become a bit of a cliche to bash DSF, yet so many of you are still here, contributing in threads, day in, day out, yet you can't see the good that there is.

I just think it's kind of comedic that specifically the General Discussion forum has become so reflex oriented with negativity that it becomes an instant reaction, even in this thread, where a pillar of our community is trying to shine a light on the fact that instead of alienating brosteppers from the dubstep scene, they're instead alienating people who founded dubstep.

Break it down to what it literally is. People feel threatened that brosteps meteoric rise to the top will cause their favorite artists to either A) Compromise their integrity or B) Become irrelevant an inable to provide them with fresh music. So people freak out and make, specifically this sub forum, a chaotic and hostile place for a certain group of folks.

Plasticians post should alert some folks, that as a consequence, you're alienating the forum from a stellar amount of djs and producers that as fans we appreciate having access to.

The same thing happened on DOA. back in 2001 or so we used to be able to have daily chats with Dylan, Pendelum folks, Concord Dawn folks, Evol Intent members, Bad Company members, Robyn, Hive, Dom, AK1200, Rob Playford, Dieselboy, the list goes on and on and on. We literally used to set up AIM chatrooms and be able to sit and chat with these folks. But we got so fucking negative towards clownsteppers, and what "real drum and bass' was that we made the entire forum toxic and instead of alienating "the idiots from dnb arena" we created our own little island where no one, including the people we admired, wanted to show their face at because it was so fucking negative.

SNH, where we debate and have conflict over issues on the daily, is still met with a certain level of respect that even at the end of the day if our opinions differ, we'd still rather hang out with SNH folk than not. That same vibe doesnt exist on this sub forum. It's a literal fuck you to those who are different. It's become campy, and divisive.

Simply put: new people leave this forum because some people occasionally act like dickheads?

im saying quit being pricks to new people because consequently you're running off all the worthwhile posters along with it.

Ditto, and I came in listening to almost exclusively brostep(and here I am in my car bumping Loefah, I have come so far). I don't think anyone was an ass to me at all, and if they were I just laughed it off. If people spent a little bit of time reading through the forum before making their first post, then I think a lot of issues could be avoided.

Good idea, except what would you call that forum? Half the kids that come to this site think they know everything about dubstep already.
