automatically, once a person becomes a celebrity,
they cannot be cool imo
because they've either sought celebrity (uncool)
or are exposed to media examination and their uncool traits emerge.
What is considered "coolness", to a great extent, is pretence or being lost in a role (Morrison, Cave etc.).
The truly cool are people like the American doctor who came back from Africa with ebola in a space-suit.
He was doing something awesomely brave (or stupid) and won't live long enough to be scrutinized or preen in front of the press...
and if he does survive and is cool, he'll quickly disappear.

So the guy that gave away everything, went to Alaska & starved in a shack...now he was cool
really, all we know of him is by way of account & film
he remains effectively unknowable
certainly cannot have his person scutinized
