You can only do what you can do.

So, sounds like Dorian Johnson, MB's accomplice, recanted his statement and confirms that MB tried for the officer's gun. Oh well, I guess it was all for naught.

Pack up the riot gear. All those looters can return the Robitussin. All's well that ends well.

Has Palestine gone out of fashion again?

Warning: probably not safe for work, but to be honest, due to the distance of the cameraman, you don't see anything clearly violent but you do hear a few gunshots and see a body fall from a pretty far distance, so watch at your own risk.

Can anyone really defend this shooting? First of all, shootings like these wouldn't happen if the victim wasn't provoked by the cops when they point their guns in his face before even trying to talk him. Second, they could easily have used non-lethal force on the guy holding a fucking steak knife. Two cops who are physically larger than him - come on. Tazers, rubber bullets, baton, etc. Third, could they have maybe walked backwards a bit in order to buy some fucking time to talk this guy down? Do cops always have to be the most macho guy on the fuckin scene? If the end result is preventing a life from being lost, you can walk away from the fucking mentally ill dude with a fucking steak knife.

Oh and fourth, shoot him in the fucking leg as you're walking backwards?

What about warning shots?

Is there any action these pussy ass cops could have taken before they get so scared that they need to shoot a mentally ill guy several times?

They're just so obviously eager to use their toys is what really bothers me about police right now.

you asked why he was walking towards them. they could have done any combination of the six suggestions I just gave. I'm pretty sure a warning rubber bullet in combination with walking backwards would have scared the guy enough to make him stop. And if that fails just shoot him with a rubber bullet.

Or not immediately stick your guns in peoples' faces and piss them off.

Jags, 100% legally justified shooting.

I do think there definitely could (and should) have been alternate outcomes here.

But anybody in the world has the right to put twelve shots into the chest of a crazy dude attacking them with a knife.

I know you are an expert marksman and could have used a special bullet to shoot off the tip of the attacker's big toe, causing him to trip, and thus be safely arrested, but these officers are just not as good as you, all of their years of training, practice and experience have left them inadequate next to you.

That is why I'm going to suggest you immediately move to Chicago and become a police officer. They could really use someone like you who has those mad cuddling skills, and beyond robotic level marksman abilities.

lol, he literally asked for it, surely everyone knows not to act aggressively towards US police..

You can't really compare this shooting to the shooting of Michael Brown

theres no reasoning with you if you think it's justified to put a dozen bullets into someone who is, at best, briskly walking towards you with a knife

how do you think the police should have acted? with a crazy person, holding a knife (deadly weapon), approaching them, shouting at them loudly
