I agree, modern humanity lives in an environment completely different to the one it evolved into, and the rules have changed, but natural selection isn't working so dramatically any more now we have civilisation, so instead we intentionally change things to make it easier for us to survive.

It does though. Volcanoes are not harmonious, earth quakes aren't, hurricanes aren't etc. Even some animals kill for enjoyment rather than any need for immediate sustenance. Nature proceeds through creating difference.

And if Humanity goes too far and fucks the planet making it inhospitable for human life then nature will have created a difference. I think we're arguing along similar lines here, but your basis is that nature evidences that Humans are the result of some interference by some other intelligence. I don't see that evidence here myself.

If we didn't have the ability to adapt, use intelligence, make tools, etc, we probably would have been wiped out by larger and superior predators. The real problem is that we're too far removed from our original environment and this is what causes our lack of respect for the planet (as a species, I know some humans do actually give a fuck). I think that where we are now is not good for the planet, but we did live pretty harmoniously up until relatively few centuries back.

Humans as tribespeople generally do live sustainably. In huge quantities in cities it's difficult if not impossible. Doesn't mean humans aren't natural, just that there's too damned many of us
