Who was it that said something like "most Americans come off as arrogant" and pretty much got ripped apart?
From my own experiences with Americans, I'd define them as "loud" and more "in your face" (waiting for somebody to take issue with this). That's how they seem, to me. It's not a bad or good thing, forget about that. But being loud and being upfront, etc. doesn't equate to arrogance.
Another thing:
I have yet to "truly experience dubstep because I haven't heard it on a loud system in a club etc" or however you want to put it...but imo I don't think you need that experience in order to "get it". My intro to dubstep was through youtube on shitty Dell speakers which had a busted sub, and I was instantly hooked (though my first line of business after two months of dling random tunes was to go by new speakers/sub lol). I'm not saying I'm a unique music listener or whatever, but I think there's something more to "getting" dubstep than the next level club system. I think there's some basic rhythmic appreciation or some shit that goes with it. Or maybe it had to do with the fact that it's simply different than most things, I dunno. All I know is that ear-drum shattering bass wasn't the aspect that drew me to the whole scene at first.
EDIT: I'm obviously not talking ALL Americans. But many. It's like the thing that Canadians are more timid, etc, Jamaican women don't take shit, so on and so forth. Stereotypes? yes indeed....but you can find ENOUGH examples through your own day-to-day dealing with people that can justify some of that shit.

This man. I don't get it either. The bass is nice, but to me it's more about minimal devastation if you know what I mean. The use of space to to make you wanna break your neck is key. You don't need a huge system to get it. If you do, you're more into the gimmick of the bass. Fairplay to those guys but I'm into the rhythm as it makes me want to dance. Bass is icing on the cake.

LOUD NOISES!!!!
Pants leg shaking bass on a large system will draw you MORE into the music if you are already into it to begin with.
Dark warehouse and a strobe light are the only other things you need.

Actually the bass Joe is talking about is sub-sonic, inaudible frequency bass around 40-80Hz.. (it's the higher frequencies, not the bass, that shatter eardrums..) so you don't necessarily hear it as much as you feel it... and unless you have a club system in your bedroom you probably will not 'get' that sort of magnitude of experience.
I don't think that means you can't appreciate dubstep in your bedroom, because loads and loads of people do, including myself. The fact that you can only experience its full range of pressure in a club does not discount the fact that it sounds great at home... it just gives you a reason to go out and be part of a community focused on the music and what the sound system itself has to offer, instead of just going to a club to melt face and get wasted.
Anyway all I know is I've had near religious experiences hearing music played on the system at Love in NYC. I think any musicophile has a healthy appreciation for a beautifully engineered sound system and a room that is acoustically perfect for bass music.
p.s. cultural sterotyping is OLD *snore*

oh I'm definitely waiting for my chance to hear the sound on a proper system. Whenever that may be.
and LMAO....calm down people, there's no use wasting your energy over the cultural stereotyping is old and so on and so forth. I hate it too, believe me....Canada gets some of the worst stereotyping there is. But let me put it this way. When I travel abroad and notice a group of tourists, if you're even a half observant person....you can easily spot who comes from where. It's that simple. The way certain people act immediately reveals where there from, or at least a general part of the world. Yes, you may not agree with it, it's not 100% true, stereotyping is bad and wrong blah blah blah etc etc etc.....but it's not unfounded. If you grow up in a culture, FROM BIRTH, you're going to carry yourself in a way that's unique to that culture. lol I don't think that's a hard thing to understand. Anybody who takes time to be observant of other people with realize this.
But yes, when certain shit is said like "only Asians are good at mathematics" then there's some nonsense being spoken.
