Drony, ambient intros to mixes are really boring and pointless 99% of the time

Even loads of good mixes have boring first 5 minutes

I like homophobes in shorts that kick leather and the sausage you mentioned is kind of small compared with other sausages

1-1

I agree you want long droney intros that sound like an alarm going off instead

^had my headphones turned up far too loud for that

manaman putting a random siren in the middle of a tune always makes me jump, think it's toasty angel that always makes me look about walking down the street

definitely gonna do that and subtle telephone/doorbell rings to fuck with people if i get to a point where i release music

Also RKM, what u wanna put in is the FB message sound. Incredibly bait in a club but highly effective when people are watching your boiler room

There is too much dubby dubstep being made at the moment and it's pretty dull for the most part. It seems to make loads of producers to make really boring and samey basslines and getting away with it because of jah samples and some reverb. if someone brought back garagey/breakbeaty dubstep it would be much more interesting imo.

It's just like every other subgenre - someone/a few people create a cool sound and next thing you know everyone's biting their style. As far as subgenres go I do agree that the dubby thing is one of the most boring though

I dunno

It's more the effort that is lacking in a lot of stuff now imo.
Not so much the spice you could throw on top. Fucking learn to do some better drums all around.

^ The same could be said about brostep, the dungeon sound, that riddim thing that was popular a while back (I think?) etc. though, couldn't it? A few standard bearers who lead the way and a ton of people who just throw things together based on what they hear is popular - usually lacking in real effort. It's obviously more nuanced than that but you catch my drift. Also, totally agree about the drums things. Not that I'm anywhere near an expert myself.

If there's anything special about the dubby thing it's that people have a tendency to automatically love it because it's a "roots" ting. Can't lose dubstep street cred by bad mouthing the foundation, dear god no!

the dubby things probably a natural reaction to clinical dungeon vibes and aggressive bro, links in with all the mystikz vibe as well

thinking about it, i don't really notice dubstep drums in most of the past few years releases, is that just me

like obviously they're solid but they're never the bit i find remarkable in the tune

Agreed, once in a while there's a tune where the drums make me go :o but they are few and far between. I guess there are only so many grooves you can do if you insist on snare on the 3rd @ 140 BPM

I think this tune was pretty overlooked, and relevant here

this is a problem for me, there is so much good dubstep that doesn't rely on the 3rd beat snare. Some of the pinnacle dubstep tunes are not half step.

Just no one seems to use them as inspiration so its all halfstep...

:z: :z:

tunes like that are my fav in the mix, you get a lot more interesting combinations of rhythms than if you're just mixing straight halfstep

what dubby dubstep are you talking about? i find all the dub made today pretty boring anyway
