Eyeballing a Mackie 820i at the moment. Would be real good to have a proper interface
and mixer in one. Hope I can get it for under €200,-.

how many/what kind of instruments do you have to plug in there?

At the moment just two, I did not keep any of the drum machines I've had.
I want to get a 999/Tempest/Machinedrum and a 303 clone this year though. Plus, I definitely
want those aux sends for guitar pedals.

Its a pretty decent mixer and the converters are actually quite good as well, so I think it's
a good deal. Better than just a Focusrite interface with the same i/o.

This seems perfect for my needs too... only firewire though :( i need usb.

edit: fuck it, the Profx 8 looks pretty much the same and has usb. i'm wondering if the converters are as good as on the 820i... -q-

The 820i has separate converters for each channel on the mixer plus the master.
I think the ProFX mixers only send the master over USB. FireWire can transport the channels.

Most of those small mixers only send the master out digitally. I want all the converters as well,
as I only have a NI Audio 8 atm. Quality of those converters on the new line should do you
just fine, but as far as I know its only the 2x mono.

Was going to post up a sample of the V Bass, like a bass patch - My woofers looked like they were going to eject from the speaker. Serious room shaking bass. BUT then I spent over an hour just making sick wobble/helicopter sounds, then had to ditch it cause I spent all my time on it! Bastards. But the Volca Bass can do BASS.

Dude, I've heard some samples of the BSII that really impressed me. I'm becoming more vehement in my distaste for the brutes. I will say the brutes do have a sound, a really unique sound, but I don't appreciate it too much. The BSII, from what I've heard, it just sounded wet and organic, the kind of analog I like.

I'm still BLOWN away by the Volca Bass though. I really likely wouldn't have bought this thing, so glad that I had that switch up. Real eye opener/mind blower.

The best part about the brute is the price point imo. It doesnt really try to pretend to be anything fancy either. The sound is not great overall imo, but I've been eeking some good things out of it. Most people that demo it dont realize that 12 o clock on the OSC knobs is 100% and going over that is over drive (which can be awesome) but it often results in a big ol pile of mud, especially with the waveshaping knobs above. You can get some pretty delicate and interesting sounds from this thing if you treat it so.

Im not personally fully hyped on this this thing, but I have a lot of fun noodling on it and once in a while I'll actually get a sound i truly want to record.

Yeah, bigups, that's what I heard, keep it below 12 o'clock.

I have been a bit of an extreme knob twister. This AX60 is teaching me though. There is often a huge sonic difference moving the slider a 1/16th of an inch, you really have to juuuuust nudge it to get a new sound. This is like knob twiddler therapy.

Oh, but what I wanted to say: when you open the BSII up, I really like that sound, when you open up the brute, I don't like that sound.

I know y'all were talking about the p08 module at $800, well here you are at $900:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DSI-Prophet-08- ... SS:US:1120

I see a full board at $1495 buy now price. I'm telling you the price just broke on the 08's. It is coming down. I think it is shifting from 1,600 used to 1,400. I think you'll see modules at 800 -> which, imo, is just a great price for an incredible instrument that you'll probably have for the rest of your life.

And damnit, I forgot to mention: a p08 full pe board just didn't sell on ebay for $1200. It was local pickup in NY... but still. I told the guy it wasn't going to sell, and that I'm interested, no response whatsoever. After it didn't sell, I told him I'm still interested, take it to ups store, they'll pack it and ship it for you, no response... but I'm telling you the p08 is on the front edge of a price drop. About to get affordable.

I think you'd do amazing things with it. If I was daddywarbux, I'd buy one for you. (on the condition that I get all physical releases in new sealed condition of yours for life)
