Okay, so the AX60 and the Six-Trak are based on the same Curtis chip, but man do they sound different. The AX60 is just brutal, it shreds, the Six-Trak is what I was looking for, that John Carpenterish raw kinda analog, but ERGF - Musical - ERGF, I'm defo going to be making my sad alone boy tunes on the Six-Trak. It just sounds indi. Refined, but delicate.

I'll post up some examples.

My computer has fully shit the bed. Getting BSODs up the wazoo. Never had this problem before. Ever. I could think it is just a dodgy plugin, but weird things are happening with the hard drive, and I've already had one hard drive blown out. I think there is a cancer in my system. Maybe the powersupply... Maybe the electricity. I had to run the wall juice here, maybe the current is not so great. I am working through a Furman power conditioner... But what does that do really?

Argh. But if I CAN record some stuff, I'll throw up some of the Six-Trak.

Am selling the AX60 if anyone is interested. Like the Juno 106, all real time controls, but a meaner sound, it is VCO, has two choruses, The VCO can modulate VCF, does splits, can assign 6-0, 4-2, and more, Unison, TWO adsr's, LFO can mod VCO, VCF, VCA. And can take an input from Akais 12 bit samplers, to do some really fucked up things. Dying that I have to sell this. If I had the sampler, I don't think I would. I'd sell my shoes first.

Most of the time its just software issues though. What I've been doing the past few years is just buying a new HDD and do a fresh OS install, running the 2nd (original HDD) as a 'slave' (im still used to the IDE era hehe). It feels like a new computer again and you still have your original file system there for easy access.

I have like 6 harddrives in my computer now and sometimes it takes some almost magical vibe for me to remember file paths on stuff thats like 10 years old now (mainly just finding old hidden porn folders when my internet is down)

I built this comp in 09, fairly future proof, and it has run like a stallion all these years (unless I get excited, then, it kind of freaks out).

ER-1's are fun. They can't really do snares, but most analog (or analog modeling) can't really do snares. You need to layer those.

Shut down my system a little while ago, logs still up, but it is slipping my mind. It is some nt kernal, responsible for memory management, getting some error codes, but I can't get anyone in the universe who knows what they are. Now that you're in my lair, I'll shoot you a pm tomorrow with the actual deets.

leaky caps can happen to anything with a cap on it haha

Fo sho. I was just in there when we moved. I"ll open it up again, and reseat everything. Take a look around. It was pretty dusty in there.

I have an MKII. I'm not sure I really want/need to sell it...I'm just doing a purge of all the little boxes that I "play" with occasionally. The distraction stuff. I'll probably hang out to that though really. If Korg got only one thing perfect it was the electribes IMO.

It can do a passable snare...you just have to use 2-3 of the voices...even then...maybe not so hot for snares. I'll like to do some ghetto ass beats on it using the other voices for synth/bass parts. Kick, clap, hats and weird sounds

guyzz im real stuck on my dissertation and this seems the most active thread for people im aiming my questions at

so...

i've taken audio samples from microbrute, sub 37 and korg bass. All the samples are just the most basic settings of each oscillator: square, sine, square etc. I have recorded 2 octaves from each wave on each synth.

i want to do a blind test and questioner comparing these with basic waves from digital synth vsts.

what kind of questions do you think would be good to ask?

other than do you think this is analogue or digital

any help would be great. SAFE

Which one do you like?

Which one would you use?

Which one sounds louder?

Which one sounds bigger?

Which one sounds bad?

Which one sounds small?

Which one sounds real?

Have you recorded one cycle of the wave, or the wave cycling for a while? I think for this comparison, the synths generation of the wave over time would be more informative rather than one cycle, unless your thesis has to do with only one cycle.
