Nah I felt the exact same, I hated the first few episodes. Friends kept saying stick with it, I think I was converted around episode 6, just needed time to get going and for Hugh Dancy to have confidence in his acting or something. Season 2 was pretty damn good so I'm glad I stuck with it.

just stumbled upon Monsters
kinda corny boy-meets-girl-in-Mexico-during-alien-invasion but the effects are suitably cornhole
& Jon Hopkins does the unobtrusive sound track

I like that the guy isn't a model...he's kind of teethy, gaunt & coyote-like
and the apparently-pretty-defenceless girl has skin blemishes & survivalist instincts.

the anime isn't about boy meets girl in Mexico

But you need to see it if you haven't already, if it's as good as the manga it's 10/10, Urasawa is untouchable

I've just finished Boardwalk. So, so good. Yeah there's shaky bits and there have been throughout the season. But this is up there with the 'best show ever' candidates.
[+] Spoiler
It got a bit mazy with all the flashbacks and the back and forths. I thought the telling of the Gillian/Commodore story was pointless because we knew what happened, but it was so impactful in the end.

The thing I've found with all the flashbacks is I now want to start the series again. Everything with the Dermody's seems so much more meaningful now.

Also how good/believable were all the young versions of the characters?

Watched Top Boy via sky via 40D was good stuff
Onto the second season now but the first EP didnt grab me quite as well as the first, maybe too many new characters and dividing of the older ones.

Just watched the last episode of season 4 of Homeland, wtf, that was a total snooze fest, what the fuck?
[+] Spoiler
The whole thing with her estranged mum was so boring, did not give a fuck about that at all. Quinn & Carrie being in love with each other yawwwn. Probably will watch it but not really looking forward to season 5.

Homeland season 1 is good, two is a snore fest, 3 is the best.
[+] Spoiler
I fucking HATE carrie, she's such a bitch and I genuinely wish for bad things to happen to that character. Once they killed Brody the show has gone so far fucking down hill. Honestly, I didn't bat an eyelash at that kid being killed by his uncle and you could see Saul being captured a mile away.

3 was pretty shit, 4 was way way better than 3.
[+] Spoiler
Keeping Brody alive through ridiculous odds and the thing with his daughter and that boy was so so awful.
1 > 2 > 4 > 3

1 was good. Season 2 lived off season 1. Season 3 was properly terrible.

3 is good because it made me truely hate Carrie and seeing her struggle made me happy. Season 4 sucks
