They provide services to ISP's, they're below ISP's. They've been infiltrated by the NSA, their networks are totally compromised, and they themselves as individual humans are under increased personal surveillance because of their roles as admins. They are in some way 'combatants' or they are at play in a way that I don't think they thought they were. They thought they were network engineers and whatnot, they have families and homes, but they are now aware they are targets.

Lol that is such a nightmare scenario, the lead engineer looks on the edge of tears. What can you do against an advanced persistent threat though really..

Not employing people stupid enough to think that substituting o's for 0's was what consituted a 'secure' password would be a start.

Either the CSO of the ISP is at fault for not hammering that into people, or the CSO of whatever company they rented is.
