it is a pain in the ass but you shouldn't need to pry the connectors open with anything. One end is slightly more open than the other on those cables fyi.

and even if its just one end the pins on both sides are the same size so that wouldn't even make sense

but yeh, the pins were closed, all needed to be pried open on both sides
