Tuna has been strong this week, good work guys. :w: I know my feedback sometimes might be a bit harsh or to the point, but its only cos I appreciate feedback like that myself, rather than just 'nice tune' etc - no one on here has been like that really, but I've found that on other sites/forums etc.

Just wanna say thanks to Moguri (sorry I don't know your actual username on here). He gave some well detailed feedback on a tune I uploaded here a few weeks ago (now called Proximity). Heard it out on a system last week and it got the best response out of my 3 (all of which I've posted here) and I couldn't imagine the tune any other way even though the main suggestion was pretty simple - just moving a percussion part to the drop). Tuna has the power to affect the real world in IRL life!

Thanks for coming down to the basement and participating.

I like your toons and I like your steelo.

ah no problem i try to give constructive feedback where i can i mean it can get harder for me to actually say sth helpful in genres like la beat and stuff you guys are better than me but i just go by feeling and try to think as a listener :Q:

Here's is me feedbacks:
Jizz and hubb - srebme breaks:

That beat is amazing and the effects are great as well as has been mentioned that snare is so cool. Digging the stereo fx. The only thing is that I think the sub could come up in volume a lot!!!!

Mason: not much to say! Maybe the kick and snare could stand out a little more? Not sure if its these headphobe s tho. I think the background synths in ur tunes are always well vibing. Perhaps the percussion could change up a little bit at points but I like the creeping progression it has.

Ohsomagic - bury me: this is immense love the spacial qualities and the synth change ups. I think this is another one where the sub could come up in volume a bit and the sawish bass sound could too I think. This mix like all other tunes has been clean and crisp.

Yilan: get this out to people bro. Goes off.

Wolfram (moguri/unimog/budspence?)
Errr sexy. Amazing synth work. These wouldn't open for me the other day and I'm glad they didn't cos I got to listen to them in the sun by the pool. My favorite is vonoben. That drum programming is beyond me. Nothing constructive to say just nice work!

Banging tracks gys!!!!!!!

Here's my feedback for everybody (I'm the Jagoff by the way :6:):

Ember Breaks: Really like the interesting sounds in here, the percussion, and the pad - basically everything imo. I would maybe put a little more midrange on the kick and like mason said, turn up the volume on that nice pad a bit! Very interesting tune!

Flossing Underwater: couldn't view this one :(

Bury Me: I would add a little bit more to the intro. The intro is a little slow. Really dig that snappy percussion. When you crank it up with that airy lead at 1:35, I would maybe crank up the energy with the percussion as well, get a little juke'y bit going imo.

Hiroshi: That is a sick fuckin intro man. Was really hoping for a dubstep tune :/ you guys make a lot of interesting hip hop doe. Wouldn't change a thing about that awesome piano melody except making it a bit louder. I would maybe add some more / louder hihats. Not sure if I'm totally a fan of the pitch bendy thing about half way thru. I like the concept of it but the pitch bend sounds a little out of place. Bass towards the end is SICK. Vocals are on point as well. Also I agree with mason that some reverb on the snare would sound nice or maybe just some more reverb in general to fill in a bit of the space but not too much ofc.

Deluded: Great intro. Really feeling the beat. The beat and the pad go well together. I like the bass as well. Reminds me of some dark early dubstep / 2-step big apple tempa stuff. I would maybe drop the pads/leads somewhere into the song and just have beats & bass for a while. Towards the end at like 3:00 is starts to be a bit too much imo with the beat, bass, and pads. All around really sick tune though. I would maybe also change up the arrangement a little bit, drop the drums out at some point, etc, so it's more mixable. Could see this one really going off in the dance!

Kalimba: I really like the concept of the tune and the melodies and chords. I think the mixdown could be improved. Especially the kick. The kick is a little boomy and thuddy imo, but it has a certain character so I can see why you might be going for that sound. I think it might be out of key with the instruments - might wanna check that. I would personally try to brighten up the highs on the kick and have less of a tail but up to you. I would also make the hihats a bit louder. I also think a brighter snare would sound great with the instruments. The melodies & chords are on point though. I also like the little random sounds like the one at 1:17.

Speaking in Tongues: Intro is sick. Percs are sick. Eastern sounding pad is sick. I got this feeling that some 'wooshing' noise fx would sound good if added to the intro. Something that sounds like wind. Sub is on point. Only critical thing I can say is that it is a bit repetitive. I hear how you added more and more percussion every 16 bars or so, but I would maybe do other things to change it up as well. Add another subtle melody maybe, replace a perc with a new one instead of just adding more, etc. All around really nice tune man.

Sidizer: Really cool tune. Vocals are on point. Bass is on point as well. I would maybe add some more percussion, like another snare hit or more hihats/rides, to the drum beat to give it a bit more energy. I like how you mix it up at the second drop. I would maybe add a pad here and as I said more percussion to give it more energy. I like the new arrangement at 2:10.

Vonoben & Ozonos: very interesting tracks. I really like the melodies and the bass in Ozonos especially. Very good mixdowns. Good arrangement in both. I don't have much to say in terms of critiquing them, and I don't wanna give you empty feedback so i'm just gonna say :4:

I know I said I really liked pretty much every track but I wasn't lying. You guys are making much better music since the last time I participated in TUNA. Large up to all yall. What does TUNA! even mean anyway NWJ? "Tune-a-week" or something like that?

ok here we go

@jizzman hubb
like it so far i would say the magic cymbal sound ?! at 0.40 and ongoing it doesnt add much for me you could maybe replace it with sth similar?
maybe you could raise the hi hats tiny bit in volume and add some crunch to the dark bass
i think like the more subby bassdrum more i think those that dont have the lofi on top
maybe use those wierd talky fx´s more and the nice pad that comes in the end again maybe layer another octave on top?

second one the cowabunga
def same vibe could work as an ep even wierder sounds ♥
yeah i think it just needs some more power overall i think the clap/snare could use some punch
but the filterwork and everything really nice just tiny bit more presence

@oto concept

bury me
really nice drumsounds
feel this melody maybe layer another level of this voice melody when it drops arp like or sth
yeah i think the bass could have some more sub or warmth dunno it glides nice but its too quiet atm

hiroshi
nice atmosphere from the beginning
yeah this one is def fuller mixwise really nice melody not sure when the other bass drops i would have gone for another element feels too happy or maybe make the steps shorter like you keep the long bassnote and then just at the end du du duu haha like it feels too much on beat atm

@mason
nice space on the drums :U:
melody could be even further in the back?! yeah really dig your drumsettings :corndance:
not sure if you should drop the midrange so early would really jsut drop with the sub.
maybe you could let the beat breath like in old dnb tunes where at the end its like a really short empty part.
you could fill it with delay reverb or just let it breath or fill it with a sample or vocalshot

hm the bass for me doesnt sit right atm not sure maybe play around with where it sits maybe more of a bigger reverb but more in the back?
but yeah really nice drums and melody has this unpleasantness in a good way

@sinestepper
:3 kalimba haha yeah def feels like nowaysj abit haha but the sub is deeper here maybe bring the happy bit melody later not right at the drop
yeah i think the beat could come more in the front overall but besides that flows really nice i dig those side melodies maybe you could give the main one bit of tail

@yilan
yeah haha dig this vocal :W:
dark drumsetting, builds up nice. yeah def nice drop dark sounds everywhere progression is nice
yeah only thing for me is it gets bit repetitive after the second drop and some chants really on top would add alot i think after the second drop

@jags
yeah dig this bassline haha :z: and the vocals but yeah i agree bit harder drums less reverb maybe could add sth flows nice. saxophon works nice. would say give the bassline something on top when it drops again jsut to change it up could be dif lfo or more grime or change the waveform around
but has alot of potential :h:

Big up bud. I'm planning on parallel distorting the high freqs of the drums as well as the paralell compressor I have. Hopefully bring em forward a bit. If not I'll get to layering

Tbh this thing and the valhalla verbs are imo a must have atm.. particularly on drums. I don't like plugins in general..

(the write up is a little weird because it's mainly it's wave shaping capabilities that are amazing..)

I got reason to rewire to ableton, and have only ever used it like a handful of times. I like it, I just don't have the patience to relearn a DAW.
I always buy things I don't need. :|

But, I came to say I'm stoked to hear the Tuna! tunes this week! I finished up two myself this morning.
