Has it not been pro-rata'd as you didnt start in January?
What the hell does Pro-rata'd mean? I've been here 5 weeks I think.
JTMMusicuk wrote:ask them about how many holidays you have, when they tell you just say something like i thought you legally had to have 26 days atleast..or something like that
basically let them know you know your shit, thing is if you fight too much your gunna have alot more than 26 days off ;-)
Yeah this is the problem, I havn't been here long. I dont want to loose my job already haha.

with spain this year i'm already on my limit of days off. Guess it's the old 'call up in the money' and sacrifice money if I really dont want to come in.

you might not get as much holiday if they work it out per month your there, so if you didnt start in jan that might be why

Pro rata'd means that because you joined mid feb (1.5 months into the year) you dont accummalate any holiday for the period you didnt work. For example if you are paid £20k a year, and join in June, you wont get £20k, you'll get £10k. You effectively earn around 2 days holiday a month, so if you dont work for some of the year you wont earn that holiday.

James: Remember you only build up your entitlement by working and allowances are based around full time workers (5 days a week, 37hrs+) working for an entire year - so if you only started your job in February or March you're only going to get 10/12 or 9/12 of your entitlement. Likewise, if you started on January 1st, but only work 4 days a week, you're only entitled to 4/5.

Current entitlement is 28 days, but also bear in mind that includes Bank Holidays (9 this year), so the minimum "allowance" for a *full time* employees working the whole of 2012 is 19 days.

Sick leave is separate.

How come I took two days off sick recently and apparantly it counted as part of my holiday? Am I being skanked?

Yes but I need those days off for an already booked holiday in the future, i'd rather not get paid and have those days off.

Guess just unpaid holiday then, haha.

or did you ask to take it as a holiday?

dunno what you do but every office job i've had has had to have my request for a holiday approved before hand. special exceptions have been made though at times.

Yeah thats not right. Maybe they thought you would have wanted to get paid for it and wouldnt if you just took it as sick. Might want to have a word with them about that one.

someone stole my bag from the pub. all it had in it was my baccy, some work, leftovers of my lunch and my wallet with no money in it. not that i've lost anything of value but what a fucking inconvenience, what actually is the point, not even a particularly nice bag!
