Just an into for now, but I'm wondering if I should split the bass and stick some sub under it?
And anyone got an idea for a hook or lead? 'Cos I've tried various styles of sounds but nothing's really working.
I think you should keep the bass the way it is right now but add the sub right after the tune drops. I think it would create a nice effect of fatness. That's maybe my personnal taste but I constantly here bits of bass automation that could really fit well in your pass pattern making it more alive. For the hook ... depends on how creative you are . Have you tried singing out loud a lead then finding the notes ? I do that all the time for my bass pattern (I look of course a bit akward but it really helps me figure it out).

Have started making a dubstep / electro song. The switch up happens at about 2.20 and again at 3.20 but tried to retain some electro elements in the dubstep section. Let me know what you think. Don't worry, it's meant to sound gay. Soundcloud

I think you did a really nice blend here. I don't know it works well together. Since I love the little details, you might want to lower the pitch or your snare and add a lot/little reverb on it. For me it sounds really too dry. For the rest it's all good.

agree with hellomadame, nice drum patterns. To me this sounds like a great foundation, build some stuff on top of it. I would like to hear a nice synthline or something.
Maaan, that hi-hat pattern is nice. Vocal stab is also good.
Another snare/rim shot would go nice. Or a clap, come to think of it. Big verb'd up clap would be awesome.

I'm liking those drum samples, maybe you could add some more hi hats in the background and a sub would sound good - but that's just down to personal preference, though i like subby tracks.

hello ppl. ima new boy in town! always been following dubstep but never actually got to produce any until now. check out the remix im currently working on for one of the grime tunes i produced last year. feedback is appreciated
I like this. Definitely scrap the reverb IMHO; it'd sound great dry (and too much reverb just ends up sounding mushy over a club PA). But it's got a sick groove to it; would love to hear it when it's done.

EDIT: Need a fresh set of ears; Does this sound to "rainbow" on the spectrum? Or should I go darker * BIG FUCKING EVIL GRIN *
Not generally the kind of stuff I listen to, but I'm quite into this -- nice work on the arpeggios and progression. Definitely not so much about the evil laughter/moan sample, sorry. I wouldn't say you need to "darken" it per se, but I'd be interested to hear it with more sub and a lower cutoff on the bass maybe, to give it a bit more space and depth? Praps even just have a sine sub on its own?

This is my first attempt at making dubstep. Im really liking it so far just need help with like EQ and compression really new to all this.
Any tips, tricks tutorials or even plug-ins that would help me with EQ let me know i would really appreciate it.
And what do you think of the tune so far? where could it improve?

layzie18-- i was expectin something epic after the intro, mayb abit too full on to early... like just spread out some of those sounds.

Mmm, the vocal sample dosn't really fit in with the arp anymore, I agree... cheers for the advice. Will take it into consideration.
