@ J-One - Not a bad word to say at all about your tunes mate. As i wrote on your Soundcloud, your drum arrangements are second to none! The way you arrange your broken beats is sick, wish i knew how!
Another bit i been working on, same drums and bass as the last one, just playing round with some vocals. Reminds me of some oldschool garage so might just completely change the drums and put some garage beats in there. Nice one for the feedback!

liking your track! what exactly did you sample?
the guitar is sounding really nice!
Thanks The flute/pad sound is from the beach boys cover of "we three kings of orient are" (of all things) chopped up a bit, there's a couple of high passed bits of percussion taken from old jungle and rave tunes slowed down. Glad you like the guitar, as its just my shitty acoustic recorded through my shitty mac microphone, loads of fx though
Really liking this man, the fuzzy pad is gorgeous, the vocals sit perfectly and the rhythm is tight! I agree with everyone else though, the snare could hit harder.
@j-one, went for the sig track, and i was blown away! the glitchy percussion is tasty and the piano/harp (couldnt really tell haha) fits perfectly with the deep space feel. Also, I'm a sucker for delayed stabs only thing is i dont really like the snare, bit too squelchy for me (i guess this is personal preferance though). Maybe needs another section to drop into, bit more movement in the bass maybe? Like it a lot.
A good start, pretty ominous! Drops need a bit more impact, even something simple like a crash would help, also the drums need more punch, bigger snares!! its got a good structure though and could end up pretty tasty!
Tunes in the sig for those who missed it first time
nice tune. like the higher freq parts.
drums sounds are a bit generic, kick and snare dont really fit the track. Id go for more electro-drum sounds, a clicky kick and a tight snare.
bassline that comes in at 1.28 is a bit dull, really good up til then
love the piano that comes in, v. ambient feel to it
good overall but kinda feels like its building up to something but never arrives.
@Kochari
YES I like that gritty perc line that comes in. gives it a really oldschool, triphopish feel. not a fan of the flangey hats tho.
great track though, guitar fits it brilliant.
something ive been working on, features guitar riffs from Sleep and Hawkwind: Soundcloud

So I was testing out some studio headphones and decided to push them a bit. Getting my hands on these has really opened my eyes to all the stupid things I've been doing. I think for the first time I didn't have to use any kind of limiter or compressor on the main bus to prevent clipping.
I'm not really sure what to call this or even really what genre it would be in. I do mainly dubstep so that's most of the influence but what I came out with is just some psycho shit......so that's what I called it, "Psycho". I was thinking maybe some sort of "hardstep" for the genre but it's only 115 bpm so not sure if even that would fit.
The drums sound great, meaty kick and good cracking snare on the third to slap the listener in the face. Bass is also good although it could do with some variety though, add a second channel and make another bassline with it so you can change between the two. Other than that its a good start so keep on working on it.
Let me know what you think ! will post comments on other tracks tommrow, i need to sleep ! cheeeeeers
Like the synth on this one also the laughter sample is pretty cool. I would suggest beefing up the snare drum with another snare or even white noise to make it darker and louder.
marshy wrote:@Kontigo, love it. Not normally into that style but haven't heard an easier listening track in i don't even know how long. Only thing i'd say is about the drums, like you say it needs a mixdown but if you get those snares breaking through a lil more and the kick slightly more prominent it'll be banging. Beautiful!
This started off as my attempt at a deeper dubstep track, hence the lighter drums. I ended up slapping a mean bass on there, but it plods along fucking slowly, very different but thought i'd keep at it. About 3 hours work, and ive been on headphones the whole time so any help over mixdown would be grand.
Gonna be up for free download when done, i know i should really add something else to go along with the intro drums but to be honest i can't be bothered as it's going to be free download for everyone anyway
Add something to the intro doesn't matter if its gonna be free to download or not just make it intersting to listen to for both the producer (yourself) and the listener, whether its by adding some samples or a few synth lines. Bassline could be a bit fatter and it would help with some variation to again make it more intersting. Finally, replace that snare or layer it more, doesn't really fit the track well.

MY 2nd real attemp at playing with dubstep, starting to get the hand of using different variable in sound, filters, bass etc. Starting to get the hang of reason now.
