Not certain if I've mentioned it in this thread, but the next sample pack will be up near the end of August. This will give everyone a proper heads up on the next one so you know how much time you should schedule to create a track.

On the subject of voting: What we did for the three previous competitions was have a voting panel, as proposed by Alphacat several months ago. This worked out, and we had alot of the more experienced producers listen to the tracks, however, after sometime there was speculation that the votes where rigged, by that time a majority of the people wanted standard voting back in place.

Also, I think having three votes per track can be a risk, we definitely had a rigged vote last time, and thats easy isnt it? Just get all your friends to vote, etc. So by then you get your friends voting for your song with the option of three votes? This just leaves room for too much drama, not what this is all about. I'm open to trying it out, but I think the best way we had it was with the voting panel, if anyone has any other ideas link me a PM.

Otherwise, these competitions have come along quite a bit, the progression, improvement, and dedication I have seen in the production content is wonderful, keep at it and perhaps in the future there will be prizes!

Cheers.

Jebus, Constrobuz sure pimps these contests - you've won a bunch of 'em! Good job man.

As for the voting rules and whatnot: some of you have been on these for a while (I started with sample contest #4) and some of you are more recent arrivals (welcome! It's good to have you aboard.)

There have always been and will always be disagreements, shortcomings, reservations, doubts, and frustration with how some aspect or other is set up/enforced/etc... you can search past threads and see that for yourself (if I recall correctlly #13 was particularly contentious.)

Lots of solutions have been proposed, but often wind up being "Belling of the Cat" type proposals. Radical changes get met with a lot of resistance for no good reason (and sometimes one or two decent ones.) In the end, I don't mind healthy debate and thoughtful suggestions, but for the number of people that actually wind up participating and voting I think there's a lot of hot air being spouted by many.

When it comes down to it, the present setup works partly because it's [more or less] how it's always been and partly because of the hard work of a handful of people - Haack and the contestants. That being said, I think that these are the people that should have final say on how tings get run 'round here. But that's just an opinion.
