How many you got so far?
I think the track I got on the go is probably my best brostep attempt to date, but this is not saying much
making brostep is easy, its just making a stand out track that is a cut above the rest, which is the difficult thing imo.

Is there some list of rules, for what is considered Brostep and what isn't?
I think it's just a matter of opinion, if you ask me..
Fuck genres.

Well brostep isn't really a genre isn't it meant to mean dubstep created specifically for dancefloor purposes with little to no musical merit. Brostep takes the art out of music and just has a party. I think you can tell the difference between brostep and other dubstep just by looking at the actual artists that make the tracks. Bro is made by (and for) hipsters trying to be cool that are more into getting fucked and chatting up girls than putting their hoods up and really concentrating on the music. Those two tracks are too well musically crafted to be considered bro IMO. Far too much space in the mixes too XD
Not trying to hate on bro here, it is what it is and it wouldn't exist if there wasn't a place and a want for it.

I forgot you can't make a good brostep track can you.
Yeah, that coki track is not really brostep, but the emalkay one is imo.
What about sweet shop?

I didn't say you can't make good brostep. God you try and say anything about brostep these days and people get so defensive. I really like quite a few bro artists and like I said it definitely has it's place in the music scene at the moment. That said, sweet shop is both pure brostep and also a really really shit song, that's just coincidence there though. I preferred doctor Ps older stuff, before he was trying to be datsik, his own style is better imo.
THIS is how you do the brostep thang on the proper:
That emalkay tune is deep, it has emotion in it and when you listen to it it's more than just a "lets dance to this and have fun" track. It's made with a musical mindset rather than a ravers one if you get me. That's what seperates brostep from the rest, it's the pop of the dubstep world. It's made to please the masses and give people those few minutes of funtime while they are out. It's not *meant* to be thought provoking or emotional or traditionally 'musical' so you shouldn't get upset when people say it isn't any of those things. If you said a mala track lacked emotion, soul etc that would be a massive insult because that's what he's trying to achieve but the same comments mean nothing to a brostep track. A similar cuss of bro would be to say you can't dance to it or it lacks energy. Different things are important for different types of music.

But saying that, the next time someone shows me a track on youtube, and says check this you like dubstep, and its some crap that is nothing like dubstep im going to go hulk mode on them.

I have to disagree, respectfully..
I think "Brostep" has a lot of emotion behind it, in most instances... I feel all music has emotion behind it, and as much work is put into this "Brostep" as any other type of Dubstep.

For the pure ridiculousness of it;
A Sigur Rós track, in a thread on the internet, about Heavy, Mid-range Dubstep and emotion
(because I've always wanted to include the little fella' in a post, haha)
