Capo is right.
when it comes down to it that's what happens
you can claim that you can play PCs like consoles but no-one fucking does

like i said consoles are for casual markets
if you wanna play sports game latest year iteration or same old fps shooter chances are you're gonna do it on a console
most people who are serious about gaming own both pcs and consoles
like i said earlier though most of the top selling games are online based now and not exactly have friends over material
i mean with my rig as is right now for the social aspect i can have a buds over, toss em a pad turn on the tv and a couple clicks later be playing away
and i never get why console guys always seem to think all pc gamers spend oodles on their rigs and are some basement dwelling neckbeards who only care about graphics when it's generally the console market who gets targeted for this with repackages of the same shit over and over with maybe a little more eyecandy
pc gamers just want to use their hardware to the full potential, if you have the power and options, why not use em? plus the cost of decent rig practically pays it self off with the savings you get on games through services like steam, desura, gog along with additional user content. for example i snagged hl2: ep 2 for $1.99 on sale, and 4 multiplayer and 2 single player total conversion mods i play for it that were free
the only appeal i see in consoles anymore is exclusives that are actually good... and right now the only one i'm waiting on is the last guardian

because that is exactly how it is from my experience, no generalisation whatsoever

(and I'm not even strictly a console guy)

yea that's partially the devs fault though for not providing ports, which is a shame because half the time the emus when you run the games enhance it. if they actually ported to pc and bypassed the emulation it could be so much better, which is why it baffles me when devs (recent ex: crytek with crysis 2) dumb down their games to cash in on consoles dated hardware which cheapens the pc gamers experience so dated console hardware can keep up
PCs aren't where the money is at anymore, plain and simple. Crysis 2 probably quadrupled their sales by going multiplatform. How many people would buy BlazBlue on PC anyway?
Anyway, a lot console to PC ports tend to suck (Gears 1 being a classic example).
That would be false. Console licensing rapes developers. By rapes i mean the profit margin is not even remotely comparable. The reason why games are made on consoles is because it's the only way some games get made.... if a game gets a licensing deal it can get development money.... while a game that is strictly PC doesn't have to be microsoft or SCEA's bitch.

Even ignoring profit costs, console sales, in all likelihood, still crush PC (no way to know for sure since Valve doesn't release sales figures, but the player base is a pretty good indication imo).
As for the licensing costs, the lack of licensing for PC sales makes selling PC games for $60 even less justifiable.

there aren't many console mmos... those alone make up a largeeeeee profit base
plus the second hand market on console titles also help to rape the devs pockets and make shitty chains like gamestop a nice profit

wrong.. rarely do i play black ops online without a mate here (using the splitscreen option). sometimes if there's more people over we'll just do 4 player split screen with some bots (gets boring quicker but still works)
don't even know how you could manage to complete portal 2 if you were playing online... so much better split screen with a second, physical person to talk to
sure it might be a bit more 'casual' than gaming by yourself on a pc, but it is hardly 'casual gaming'. casual gaming is snake on your phone.

there's a voice over program built into portal 2. Most PC gamers will just use ventrillo due to it being awesome.
Co-op on PC is amazing for Portal 2.

also consoles have the amazing ability to pack down very quickly and take to another persons place
i like playing games on pcs & consoles though. i mainly use the ps3 at the moment cause my laptop has become a bit outdated for new games.

yeah safe to say WoW has made more cash than any video game in history.
And effectively made it impossible to get a new MMO off the ground in the process. Apart from FFXI and Eve, every other MMO has gone free-to-play or has shut down entirely. No one's willing to pay $15/month without having the same content and userbase as WoW. The Old Republic (

) has a decent chance, but after what happened with APB, I'm not so sure.

Free to play has proven more profitable in most scenarios. Micro-transaction is the future for 90% of mmo's. (talking about my livelyhood here :p)
In my opinion WoW has forced a standard on MMO's. WoW has an insanely established, deep, storyline yet doesn't require insane time investment. That's the new standard for pay to play.... or you go microtransaction.
The problem is MMO's became the brostep of gaming.... investors were throwing blind money at shit developers trying to make the new MMO.
