I stopped skating at about 15. Took a break after nearly avoiding some injuries, then I just kinda gradually lost interest. Been meaning to pick it up again. Was actually deciding between this or a bmx. But a lot of my tall mates who were into bmx switched to mountainbikes saying it wasn't really good for their backs, so that made my decision a bit easier.
Probably gonna get a longboard though. Feeling a bit old to hang out at skate parks

As long you're willing to scrape a knee and take a slam it shouldn't matter what age you are

Used to skate a lot, but now I just mainly coast around. I got the original Flip deck, Blind trucks and wheels, Bones Reds bearings, and MOB grip. Any Flip riders here?

Kevlar? I don't think I've even heard of that stuff in decks now.

i'm old as fuck, but on more than one occasion, have thought of getting a deck just for puttin around on. i've messed around on other peeps boards, can still do shit, but haven't looked into gettin set up again seriously.

and yeah, long boards everywhere huh? its all good, a good cruise is a good cruise.

mks wrote:I don't get it either. I mostly rode bowls and skateparks but it was fun to sometimes pull out the longboard and go for a cruise by the bay. I own 4 different skateboards, all different sizes and all used for different purposes.

^^ i notice kids are buying all different sizes of decks now, which is cool, its weird to see younger peeps on the wider late 80's / early 90's style decks again these days too.

just purchased a bunch of new stuff
palace 7.9 mashman deck (to support a uk board company, and they're really good)
ricta chrome cores (53mm, they ride like a dream. best wheels i've ever had)
mob grip (really good grip, but will annihilate your shoes. the perforations make it easy to apply as well)
bones hardcore bushings (no joke, these things make your trucks feel 10 times better)
bones reds bearings (best bearings ever imo)

the deck feels lovely, 7.9 is a really good size. got tres on lock now.
nearly got 540 flips on flat today as well, im stoked

8" boards are the best, stick with tre's and keep the 540 flips for skate
