This. I feel kind of bad for people that are home-schooled. Other than college you won't really get to meet that many people in your age range very often. I think public education is messed up, but it's pretty necessary for good social development.SCope13 wrote:Nothing is that bad.

Its weird how different shit goes down. At parties here, folk just bring as much booze as they can carry in the form of spirits and tinnies of lager.
Cant be arsed quoting it but I think it was kidshuffle maybe, who said that folk pay 10 bucks each for a keg, 20 folk turn and thats the keg paid for. Doesnt a keg contain 88 pints? If I invited 20 mates round to mine for a kegger and all i had for them was 4.4 pints each they'd be fucking raging.
In the American Pie films and what not there's always like 100 folk kicking about. If most of them are drinking from the keg, all night. Surely you'd need to take out a loan to finance all these kegs for your party?
Oh and ive always wondered about fraternities and shit. Is the stuff you see on shit like old school and animal house true? All this initiation pish? Over here, if someone told you that you could be in there club at uni, all you had to do was be their bitch and take a paddle to the ass 20 times youd be told to ram it...
No disrespect meant here by the way, your parties sound amazing over there, its just pretty foreign to us.

the movies are pretty accurate of east coast schools...InternetSlaveMaster wrote:I'm a senior in highschool, I got lucky because my school isn't bad at all. Teachers are friendly (for the most part), isn't much bullying, everyone smokes weed and drinks but it's like that anywhere else, really no hard drugs going around at the moment.
Overall I've enjoyed my highschool experience, even if I never joined sports/a team/etc. like they make you believe you have to.
As mentioned there are groups, but it's not like gang warfare like the movies make it out to be, everyone pretty much gets along, you just hang out with who you can relate to.
The education, however is a different story. Such a waste of time. The only things I'm learning at this point are things I never plan on using again. This not only wastes my time, but my time as well. This is a different story for a different day though
But yeah, the movies about it are just exaggerations.
Ahh sorry, meant to say "from my experience the movies about it are just exaggerations."ehbrums1 wrote:the movies are pretty accurate of east coast schools...InternetSlaveMaster wrote:I'm a senior in highschool, I got lucky because my school isn't bad at all. he probably sees himself in a good light for this, but the reality is he's just a worn out arsehole, spewing shit, for money, surrounded by hungry teenagers and a couple of guardian columnists lapping it up. in their pants.garethom wrote:I know one of the guys who writes Skins (think he was the one who pitched the idea to Channel 4 in the first place), and after the first series, he said he can and will just write whatever knowing that people will lap it up
