i know, he meant it good and wanted to make me smile, so i took it to not disappoint him. now i have a 10pack cigs lying around on my table and it makes me wana smoke again (it's because i allways have them around me).
My dad quit and he always kept a pack around just so he knew it was there, if he wanted one. This kept him in the mindset of "I'm better then smoking, I don't
need to." instead of "I need a cigarette right now, but I can't have one.." cause that always led him back to smoking.
Good job for quitting, man.

I'm still working on quitting myself :/
the first 3 days are hard. the rest seems easy if you just start to think different. i use to drink coffee after a meal, which i never did before. instead of smoking when angry chewing a gum helps too.
isolate yourself the first 3 days, that helped a lot. i was working at home and just tryed to not have contact with anyone who could possibly smoke.
the hardest part of it is, beeing remembered of good times you had during smoking, or where you used it as consoltation. it's like we all had to learn that we can't drink a beer, dance, talk to a girl and smoke at the same time anymore.

if you stopped smoking while clubbing,

August 2010 was the last time i had a cig, so glad i quit but i do get a slight craving while waiting for the bus, just remind myself how bad it is for my health. I've also grown to really hate the smell of it which helps.

I don't like the taste or the smell. I just enjoy the breaks from life it gives me and the people I talk too through smoking.
Been a full smoker for about a year and a half now...late bloomer. Congrats on the peeps that have stopped, think Ima cut my stay short like and quit by the end of the year.

if a coworker i enjoy talking to is going out for a smoke, i'll join them but won't smoke. it's nice to be outside a few times a day.
however, i've never smoked a single cigarette in my life.

Because it was a retarded reason, smoking to relax is like taking deep breaths to relax apart from you kill yourself a little bit every time, and smoking to make friends is like not smoking to make friends apart from you kill yourself a little bit every time.
How can you seriously smoke when you don't like the taste or smell? that's like if a club put a piss drinking area outside because all of a sudden it became a good way to socialise because everyone else drinks their own piss and it relaxes you because you take a break from what you were doing and catch some fresh air and thinking time. It's the same logic, in fact it would probably be much better for society's health as a whole if smoking areas were replaced with piss drinking areas.
Giving up smoking.

Buy cheap & nasty 600 cigarettes. Smoke them all in about 2 weeks. After that you won't want to smoke for a while, during which time your body will kick the addiction.
Worked for me.

Tried smoking once or twice, concluded that it didn't smell good and that it wouldn't benefit me physically nor mentally, so I didn't
carry on.

Dont imagine i'll give for a few years... been smoking two (sometimes up to four) a day for the past three years - when does addiction kick in FULL TIME, like 2 packs a day and that? Everyone single smoker i know smokes at least two packs a week, i can barely get through a pack of 20 or 12.5g ? Will i end up like that eventually? Im asking this because i dont want to think i wont end up like that because of my current habits.
I still enjoy each one like it was my second to be honest.
