if an unrelated DJ plays tunes exclusively from one artist is the mix still boring (in your opinion)? Because (just to keep it relevant to dubstep) those benjibars roots of... mixes were pretty popular and most of them were essentially an hour or so of one artist, also some of the Dubstep allstars 1 and 2 had a pretty small selection of producers if I recall correctly.

and with the whole attitude towards compas attitude towards vinyl and such, isn't it basically a slightly more extreme version of what Mala and some people on here think?

Compa's attitude towards vinyl comes across from the way he expresses himself as being less because it's good and more of an image though from the way he presents it. There are plenty other djs playing it that don't make such a big deal out of it.

Also yeah if I went to see a dj play and their set was all one producer's tunes I'd get pretty bored. Historical sets for home listening like Benjibars is a different thing altogether. Also Dubstep allstars on the first two were drawing from a small scene where little else existed at the time it wasn't an hour of "listen to my exclusive dubplates because clearly they're amazing"

Yeah, visa versa though. You can't stand the level of worship of Mala because of personal opinions towards his music or the way he presents himself, I can't stand the level of hate Compa gets because of the exact same reasons.
Not at all. It's nothing to do with how presents himself. It's more just the Mala = amazing attitude on here goes way too far at times.

I dont like his music and the way he sells himself/attitude.

Might be a nice guy personally i duno/dont care. I just mean i know people who have a personal problem with him have said why.

re the Mala thing: Mala has made some great tunes and released great stuff on Medi so big up. It doesn't mean because he likes something we all have to either.

If Compa acted normally, had a bit of humility i doubt anyone would say anything against him, but being an arrogant tnuc and making sub par tunes the guy has it coming (imo).
So you're letting other peoples experiences with him effect your opinion? I never said you have to like it because Mala does I was just saying attacking someone because you don't like someones music is pretty ironic considering you labelled him a 'massive speng'. If Compa acted normally lol, but you just admitted you don't know him personally or even care about what hes like. So why would you change your tune if he changed his? And you think attacking people and joining in a mass-internet hate on a guy is normal

I just find it funny people can have such strong feelings over someone because of something as silly as a tracklisting... then go with the excuse YEAH BUT HIS MUSICS SHIT

Petty.

The way I see it, you either dislike him for personal reasons and therefore bang on about how shit his music is, or visa versa, you hate his music and his success/the way he presents himself and therefore hate him/make personal attacks. Either way its pathetic.

But I'm coming across as a fanboy now rather than a normal human being so fuck Compa, pack up ya likkle dubplates and go away with them.. cause I wanna be e-popular!
No i'm not having a go at how he is personally, he may walk his neighbors dogs and do charity work for all i know/care but professionally yes he acts like a tnuc from what i have seen myself. The stupid amount of self promotion and self bigging up opens him up to be called up on it a bit on forums like this imo. And it seems like when people like Yan go and make a little joke at how serious he is taking something, he deletes it and blocks him? WTF

People who have a personal problem with him its just that.... personal, i have heard loads of reasons from friends but wouldn't repeat it as i don't think its fair (and lets be honest we all have faults and idgaf). How he acts publicly and his music is fair game and what we are here to talk about imo

Some people aren't always aware as to how they may sound, so in his mind maybe that's how he imagines an artist who supports vinyl sounds and less because his trying to be arrogant or whatever. But either way, intentional or not it certainly gets people talking and that's only gonna create more interest and if that means that 5 people who've never heard of him stumble across a thread like this and like what that hear, then more power to him

even though lets be honest malas tunes are incredibly good 90% of the time

This is a false dichotomy if I ever saw one. Is it not possible to separate the the man from the music and make individual judgements on either?

I'm pretty sure most people base how they feel about a piece of music on THE MUSIC, and then base how they feel about a person on THE PERSON. You make it seem like it's genuinely impossible to discern the difference. Give people a little credit.
I'm sure there are also people out there who dislike the way he acts but like his tunes, or dislike his tunes and like the way he acts, etc.
