First track I heard was Archangel, late 2007. I was only 16 at the time and my mate was hyping about this tune that he 'couldn't stop playing.' He sent me the youtube link and I was amazed. Bought the album a few weeks later and my interest in the genre flourished from there really.

I saw a video of Mary Anne Hobbs playing Chase & Status Eastern Jam at Sonar. I never heard anything so sick in my life. I was hooked right away.

Think i'd have to say it was monolith by gravious... but tbf it was more the mix it was in that got me hyped bout dubstep rather than just that song.

yep, that was one of the first I heard. it was fucking insane hearing that for the first time.
and, on top of Goat Stare for me, it was:
Mud, and something else, can't remember.
was listening to Grime before that though.
kinda got to it through Grime.

same thing with me - I was showing some grime to a mate and he said, "hey that almost sounds like dubstep" and showed me Dagger by Skream. I was blown away.

benga&coki night. heard it in a club one night, sitting in the back of a packed car on the way home with my pal falling asleep. i kept making the boo boo boo boo noise really loudly in his face and waking him up, along with slapping him round the face. pisssy drunk. after that all i heard was request line, cockney thug and mr chips for months, then all hell broke loose when i propa got into it.
EDIT: looking at it, it seems really bait, but at the time i was clueless, its led me to some amazing music and playing in a few places/pirate radio, which i never would of done if it wernt for that chance encounter. so chin up. its all good.
