Current Value and Limewax etc are drum and bass.zerohour wrote:Well thanks for the info.
Breakcore is good.
So what would you call the heavy beats like Current Value/ Limewax and them ?
That's what i thought. *cheers*armoured d wrote:Current Value and Limewax etc are drum and bass.zerohour wrote:Well thanks for the info.

Of the noisey and dark side variety but still drum and bass.

eh. matter of personal opinion, methinks.HORSEFORCE wrote: yeah, just like breakcore, the link is dead
no raves, no records. your opinion won't bring back the dead.artbreaker wrote:eh. matter of personal opinion, methinks.HORSEFORCE wrote: yeah, just like breakcore, the link is dead
neither will yours.hasezwei wrote:your opinion won't bring back the dead.
Psssh, I organize one. We recently had Atari Teenage Riot. Next one will be with Hellfish, Ladyscraper, Electric Kettle, Sickboy + more (and some non-breakcore/hardcore).hasezwei wrote:no raves, no records.artbreaker wrote:eh. matter of personal opinion, methinks.HORSEFORCE wrote: yeah, just like breakcore, the link is dead
if there arent any breakcore raves in the midwest, then id say its fair to say breakcore is dead. The only thing kinda keeping it alive right now are gabber guys up in northern europe who dont know any better. also, venetian snares doesnt count, so dont even try.hasezwei wrote:no raves, no records. your opinion won't bring back the dead.artbreaker wrote:eh. matter of personal opinion, methinks.HORSEFORCE wrote: yeah, just like breakcore, the link is dead

The 'Merican Midwest used to be a hotbed for breakcore back in the mid/late '90s, so I think that's what he's referring to (though Newcastle in Australia and several places in Germany, Belgium, France, the UK and Austria are up there as well). And I kinda agree with him on VSnares not counting. Nothing to do with him, but he's become a go-to guy for electronic music fans far outside the breakcore scene. It's like saying that '60s rock is doing well because the Rolling Stones had sold-out shows this century.tomre wrote:Euhm what are you talking about man ? Venetian snares played 2 times this year in our small country Belgium.
Ah yes, VN doesn't count, the only thing counting is the midwest in your opinion. Hell, fuck the midwest !!!
We have got a very nice breakcore event 2 times a year overhere in BELGIUM, so I don't think it's dead like punk died.![]()
Alec Empire is awesome, one of the originators. Definitely hit me up when you have that interview. I'd post it on ihatebreakcore.com as well (im an admin on there.) I'm glad you agree with me on Vsnares. It's true that his music is breakcore (really good breakcore at that) but he's one of those artists who has gone beyond the boundries of the scene. He's one of those guys who is timeless and will probably keep making good hard shit until he dies, just cause that's what he does, scene or not.Genevieve wrote:

There's more than just 2 parties in Belgium, though (and I suppose you're referring to WOOD), 'cause 2 parties ain't nothing. I'm pretty sure there's at least 3 or 4 breakcore parties per month here in NL. I'm sure there's double that in Flanders.
Still the number of releases and heads actively participating in the scene has diminished, which sucks, because there's still lots of interest in it from music fans.
I'm gonna post a video interview I conducted with Alec Empire soon, he's touched on some original things relating to breakcore.
I'm glad theres a scene there. You're lucky, it's probably one of the only places in the world where you can still go to a "Breakcore show." I used to have that here in Wisconsin, but its definitely dead now. I'd still say that overall, most Breakcore producers/DJs are moving on to more bass heavy music (and i think most of my breakcore friends would agree with me)Genevieve wrote:Psssh, I organize one. There's still mad parties in Belgium, there's Smackdown and Deathtrap (my party) in the Netherlands. There's way more I'm not forgetting now because I'm still tired.
Yeah there are fewer records and releases and you could call it 'dead', but there's still a dedicated fanbase and the few parties that are being held are doing well.
