i cant think of a dubstep track thats been overplayed/over(repetedly)hyped more.
Within the scene yes, but it's also one of the most accessible dubstep tunes around so that people who like snoop but don't like dubstep wont be scared off. I agree that the tune aint all that, it sounds almost like a mashup, but I can see the potential.

+1 to everyone who thinks that a joker track would suit hiphop mcing a lot better!

Interesting- and slightly disappointing- that when the large proportion of this forum is strongly against the concept of grime MCs over dubstep, which is truer to the roots of the sound anyway, but are all for an MC of higher status with exactly the same subject matter & content in general to get on it.

Unless, of course, there's been a seismic shift in opinion on this on here in the last couple of months that I'm not aware of. Hypocritical, really.

Don't mind the tune for the record.

yeah, i totally understand why they picked it, just personally...eh. i mean i loved the track when it came out, but it grew old quickly.

marketing - B+, A
my enjoyment - D, D+

man snoop is a WEST COAST player from before any of you knew your ass from your elbow, big dogg always has tight projects in the pipeline. his style is iconic in all of america, he is down to earth and laid back but serious about his biz. dude even organizes sports teams and bbq's for so'cal kids.... man saying something like "what's so great about snoop" is like saying "what's so great about al pacino" or "what's so great about hydroponic weed" or "what's so grat about an IN N OUT burger"...if you don't get it, it's because you can't releate...
i think snoop dogg is great but im not sure i can relate to LA gangster rappers making millions of $

hit the nail on the head, i can't relate and judging by what i've seen of him and the kind of stuff he says and raps about i would never want to relate in a million years

i'll withhold judgement on the "in n out" burgers tho

Can't believe snoop dogg of all MC's..I'm a fan of Hip Hop..mainly UK Hip Hop at that but I would have thought they would have had at least someone real on a track..not this commercial fake guns bitches and bling bullshit...

who next 50 cent?! hahaha

I just don't want to see dubstep go down the road hip hop has..money being the main priority.

track is jokes anyway...what is that chorus haha

hahaha I expected there to be some kind of leak of this by the time I woke up and had my breakfast!!

Well, I think its what they wanted, as the track was recorded a few weeks back initially with the intention of using it for another project which hopefully you'll hear more about in the coming weeks on my show.

Snoops people were so pleased with the outcome of the studio session that they're looking to push this track for his next album entitled malice in wonderland, so sent this track out on an email at midnight west coast time.

I guess the idea was to get it out to all the DJ's to see what hype it creates - judging from this forum they're doing a pretty good job at that!! I really hope it makes it onto the album, will be a good look for Chase & Status.

So, my airplay on Rinse tonight won't really be that exclusive now, good chance it'll be played all over 1Xtra and Choice and Kiss today.

But as I've stated earlier in this post, this is the tip of the iceberg. I've been working with the people who put this together for the last month or so sending over some dubstep tracks for a mixtape which is being put together using dubstep tracks and rappers over in the USA. Thats what this snoop track was originally intended for but as it went so well, they're pushing it for his album already which is fantastic as thats kinda what we hope will happen for all the tracks we put on the mixtape!!

There's a whole heap of rappers writing to tracks from Joker, Plastician, Crissy Criss, Maniac and a load more as I type this, so look out for more collaborations popping up in the coming weeks.

A lot of the rappers were a bit unsure about flowing on what one very well known artist described as "some crazy techno kinda stuff" but I'm sure now that Snoop took the plunge a lot more will be more inclined to give it a go.
