we weren't doing anything so w/e, concert was in an arena (bryce jordan center) seating for around 10,000 at the place
holy shit was that terrible, opening act played a 2 hour set that was just god awful, dude wasn't even mixing. He had a pre-recorded set and was just playing a midi controller like a keytar the whole time
finally avicci comes on, everyone goes nuts, he mixes into one of his own tracks, and it's all 4x4 no bassline garbage, and it's so much fun to "dance" in a stadium seat... couldn't handle it, had to leave early
I don't know how dudes can get so pumped up to see a guy like that in an arena, tix were like $30~50 as well, complete waste of money, and i was pissed b/c i ended up spending $5 on a cab

The rusko concert i went to recently was a complete letdown, until rusko played. the first 2 opening sets were god awful. all i remember is white noise. rising white noise, drop, rising white noise, drop. it was basically mindless. the 3rd house set was pretty decent, i could actually enjoy the music. up until rusko dropping i was considering leaving, but then the place bleww uppppp for 2 1/2 straight hours. id say rusko does just as much mc'ing and dancing as he does djingakaaka wrote:rayman612 wrote:my neighbor gave me and my roommate free tix to see avicci b/c he bought a bunch to sell, and had a few extra

Yep. Saw him a couple years ago in Columbus and I swear he wheeled back 3/4 of the tunes he played. The Tornado wrote:Rusko isn't really a DJ anymore, he's more just a selector. I haven't heard him actually mix or blend in like 3 years lol

i am no dj, and definitely no expert on the subject, but most definitely mixed at the concert. he didnt just queue songs, he wasnt even using a computer. i couldnt see if he was using vinyl but i highly doubt it, probably serato. maybe im just stupid. and yah it was umassThe Tornado wrote:Rusko isn't really a DJ anymore, he's more just a selector. He usually hids his comp from the crowd he was probably using oneImmerse wrote:i am no dj, and definitely no expert on the subject, but most definitely mixed at the concert. he didnt just queue songs, he wasnt even using a computer. i couldnt see if he was using vinyl but i highly doubt it, probably serato. maybe im just stupid. and yah it was umassThe Tornado wrote:Rusko isn't really a DJ anymore, he's more just a selector. fucking dsf, youre going to make me late for school again, 1:40am signing out.
Come now, act like if there was 2 dj's playing the same set you wouldn't go see Youngsta instead of Rusko.baseband wrote:since when did we start calling a DJ set a concert or a show? since when did we start focusing more on the selector than the selection?
Well i would call it a set, but it wasnt. Ruskos bit was a set, the rest was just a.. show. the first 3 acts didnt do any mixing at all, in fact im pretty sure rusko was the only person with a set of tables all night. Even then, Rusko's "set" was most all his tunes, with a few other tracks thrown it. So the selector was basically the selectionbaseband wrote:since when did we start calling a DJ set a concert or a show? since when did we start focusing more on the selector than the selection?
thats just purely idioticKillamike49 wrote:Come now, act like if there was 2 dj's playing the same set you wouldn't go see Youngsta instead of Rusko.![]()
It's a skill that you can become quite proficient in, with enough practice, and people get recognition for that.
That being said, it's way out of proportion over here. A name means alot more than skill, sadly, not the other way around. I don't understand where people get the impression that producing=djing. Ignorant non-reasarching-money-hungry-tnuc-licking-mongrels.![]()

For example, i was speaking to a promoter, and i was asking what i would have to do for a time slot at a local club, and he told me i would have to release a successful song. Not a mix. cigarette. Haha.
