The Korg Kontrol is top notch stuff. Nice response to everything, The only down side is that it automatically mapped itself to Logic, so the faders control the faders on logic which would be fantastic if they were motorised ,but they aren't. Its made to a very high standard compared to some keyboards such as the M audio stuff. Its perfect for what I need it for.

With the Hackintosh I started a thread when I was building it but then forgot to update it. It was so easy to I was shocked seeing as I have minium knowledge in computer building. Loads of stuff on the net to help you. And logic went on just like it was a normal mac, all the jam packs and everything went on nicely.

So I use the Akai mpk49

This thing is all about being solid.

Fucking solid thing.

Heavy.

But it is big and bulky. So it takes up a lot of room on my desk, kind of cramps access to my eq. It is just a pain in the ass.

ALSO and more importantly, its pads are shite. Sorry but true akai akai akai, tha pads bros... anyway, the pads suckit it, close to unusable (on some units at least, on mine for sure). So for a long time, I used the mpk in conjunction with Korg's padkontrol, which, in my opinion, has the best pads in the post old school akai world. I just feel like korgs pads are articulate, you can really control how hard you are hitting.

And they don't feel so bad.

So I was always interested in the Korg controller, because it would obviate the need for a separate keyboard and pad interface, and was hoping that the korg 49 had the same level quality of pads as the padkontrol. I've tried pretty much all the padded controllers, and all their pads suck, the maudio stuff, the akai stuff, the novation stuff (those weren't even pads, they were buttons that looked like pads, cheeky fuckers).

But I never got a chance to try the korg kontrol 49, just could never find it anywhere, so anytime I see someone with one, I try to ask about it...

Also, because they were discontinued, they were going cheap, I've seen like $50 bucks... that is really cheap man. But then if they are discontinued, maybe that means they suck?

haha, I used the same video as a guide to do the mod on mine! It definitely helped. I still had some double/no triggering. The pads were 100% better, but that isn't saying much. I could use the mpkk pads now, and clean up the midi, but by the time I'd done the mod, I'd already bought the padkontrol. Now I use maschine, whose pads, imo, are a step down from the padknotrol's. After a few hours on the maschine the joints in my fingers start to hurt... but I think that says something positive about maschine itself, that you can bang away for hours at end (with a stupid grin on your face).
