Listening to X-rated album I heard something like distortion in several songs but I just don't get what give that meat! Sound like shitload of distortion but isn't loosing sound definition!
Kontact and camel phat have great distortion units which can add some weight without being too overbearing or ruining the sound.

I'd guess he's resampling to compress a lot of different sounds that complement each other.

+datsik said that excision has a special blend of distortion units. Experiment with combining different distortion units, adding a littl bit every time and maybe you'll get close
this kinda sound gives me a boner, please tell me how to do it

If anybody can give me some insight into how to create this kind of sound I would be very very greatful and VERY impressed!
It is the sort of rhythmic, textured impacts I am talking about
0.17 - 0.45 in this (scarily amazing) tune:

Hey, I was wondering if someone could give me a little insight on how to get that bass that feels really circus record style please. I've made out the base of the sound in 2 instances of massive by layering: a triangle +1 octave, a square, a square -1 octave, a square +1 octave and another square -1 octave. all of this under a daft lowpass filter with an envelope with fast attack bringing it up to the top, a sine shaper at about 40%, and a tele tube. then for post processing I used an eq with a spike at 3k hertz and a spike at 100 hertz. then I compressed, saturated a lot, filtered and ran it through an overdrive lightly. Then added a sine sub. It came out sounding a bit similar, but it misses the feeling int it. It'd be really appreciated if someone could help me get that kind of sound with massive in Ableton please Thanks in advance!
Heres an example(0:28, as soon as the drop starts Soundcloud

How would i go about making the modulated bass that comes in at 1:10 in this song in reason 5, I still have recieved any input other than sawtooth lfo, and i already knew that, how do i get it to sound like this instead of just a shitty walking bass

I got something pretty close to this, using ni massive.
osc 1: saw wave
osc2: saw wave -1 octave
osc3: dirty throat
filter: daft, with no resonance and cutoff at about 2 o'clock, with the lfo pushed up till the green part reaches just before the max.
lfo: sawtooth, and 100%, with the x-fade curve about 80% towards sawtooth.
insert: sine shaper, d/w and drive both at 50%
fx1: classic tube with d/w and drive both at 50%.
fx2: dimension expander with d/w at 50% and size at 30%.
Also try adding a bit of sinoid fold saturation if you have it.
That's pretty close to it, and for an unrelated but really cool sound, take one of the modulators and put it on phase (osc2) from 0% to 100%. It makes a really cool metllic sound the more you turn it up!
Hope this helps:)
btw can someone please try to help with the " circus records " style sound i posted? Thanks!

You're a genius Thank you! i used the one by nizmo, then got rid of and changed some sounds, added in another filter and some post processing, exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!
