mans definitely overreacting
That's not the artist's fault though.therapist wrote:I think someone can only be hyped up
I think you forget just how long ago some of those tunes were made. When he talked about making Burial he said some of the tunes he sent to Kode9 for consideration were from 2001. Even if we're talking about Untrue era, that's getting on for 7 years ago. It's completely reasonable for an artist to want to change up what they're doing after that period of time. If Feral Witchchild doesn't get released, remember that it's at least 7 years old, and could be 12 years old. Burial/Kode9 might absolutely hate those tunes now.therapist wrote:Like a few of you, I'd trade everything from NYC/Stolen Dog/Thom Yorke & Four Tet collab onwards for a half decent quality Lambeth/Feral.

And that's fair enough to think that it's shit or whatever, there's no rule saying you liked one Burial, you have to like them all. My comments were aimed at the people that constantly beg for speedball or feral witchchild to be released.Muncey wrote:Theres changing it up then theres adding some A-Ha - Take On Me style drums half way through.
Hiders is a straight up horror. Even Benga didn't fall off THAT bad.

I don't think the annoyance is at it being shit though.. its more at the quality control. The fact they put up preorders before any clips knowing full well people are going to buy it because they trust it'll be at least average.. its sort of taking advantage of the situation of Burial being so loved.garethom wrote:And that's fair enough to think that it's shit or whatever, there's no rule saying you liked one Burial, you have to like them all. And I'd rather someone switch it up and still be unique. At least he isn't making "deep house"
There's a simple answer to that though. Don't pre-order without hearing the tunes. Really got no sympathy for people that pre-order stuff that they haven't heard.Muncey wrote:I don't think the annoyance is at it being shit though.. its more at the quality control. Imagine if it was just really horrible generic deep house, would you not moan if you preordered it?
It is a little misleading and its no wonder people think its a piss take.
I'm just thankful Rival Dealer is worth my preorder and I've certainly learnt my lesson lol

Like the new Burial stuff or not, at least when he's changed his style up, it still doesn't sound like anything else out there, and it's not as if there's a shortage of people making Untrue-style tunes if that's what you wanna hear.
