Well, regardless of whether they could be called islamophobic or equally against everyone with their satire from what I've seen their idea of biting satire is just to set out to offend people. Seems kinda shit. Not to detract from how awful this is but I dunno.

Re: all the talk of Charlie Hebdo being hateful or whatever. Isn't the whole point of satire to ridicule power and those in control, whether that be government, financial, religious or whatever. While it might seem hateful, that's part of the point, isn't it? Hate for a lot of aspects of those in control, and the desire to challenge them?

tbh whoever thinks Charlie Hebdo was islamophobic needs to do some reading. it was a satirical zine, similar to the german TITANIC and numerous other outlets. if you get offended by that shit, please take a long hard look at yourself. all Charlie Hebdo did was draw people's irrational fears and expectations, putting them into perspective. and of course a satirical magazine would focus more on islamism nowadays; it's what people fear, it's what people hate, it's what people can't understand or relate to.

case in point, not saying they were a racist magazine per se (tho clearly the tone changed since Philippe Val became editor in chief), but pandering to people's natural inclination to xenophobia, even through humour (though imo even that is debatable, as wolf89 pointed, their cartoons weren't that funny and more taking cheap shots for the sake of it, imho bbq) aint exactly a rosa parks bravery move...
