I think its just part of the sound getting bigger -
Snoop is a good look for this - everyone checks his shit and it will hopefully introduce some ppl to the sound.
Yes there will be X amount of new listeners whose ignorance may offend some people on this board
but it also means more record sales, more club nights, more opportunities to see the DJ's you really want to and it will mean (hopefully) some more reward for the producers, DJ's, promoters who have built this scene, they deserve it.

fwiw snoop's 'sexual eruption' was better than anything anyone else produced anywhere, in any genre, whichever year it was that it came out.
tho personally i prefer britney's dubstep tune ygm

I'm looking forward to the mixtape. Eastern Jam was just the wrong tune. There are many other better candidates for this type of thing, and it would have been PERFECT for a Snoop collab if it were a Joker track, that combo just seems natural.
The current Snoop collab blows and I hope not to hear it get rinsed, but there is a lot of potential with the project as a whole.

tune is pretty jokes. guess it was gonna happen sooner or later, but don't think it will change the world that much. how about nas or immortal technique over a mala beat? or mobb deep over goblin? lol. agree with the guy supportin grime mcs over dubstep.

I see this as just a minor step for Dubstep, a good one too. I wouldnt go as far as saying this one track is gonna ruin it, but only pave the path for certain producers to do something else with it. I always looked at Dubstep like house music. it has the freedom to become a powerful movement in music. I love Dubstep, but I'd be lying if said I agreed with everyone on this forum when it comes to whats considered a "banger" or good. we already have artists doing stuff with it thats out of the ordinary and I actually enjoy those tracks. this is just one of em.
Love it or hate it. who knows? might get some good tunes and interesting collabo's from this.

herd his tune.
not feeling it personally, it just comes across as rap (beacuase it simply is) and generally to much vocals and emphasis on the vocals crowds the beat and just goes against the whole "stripped down beats and bass" that makes up dubstep.
it was inevitable anyways, because dubstep has that (early) hip hop edge to it and it would fit in well with the already established rap culture as a source of beats. its just a fresh palet of sounds but its still rap.....

very true.
it is just the inevitable growth of the scene, with all kinds of variations (this type being 1) bringing in a herd of new listeners who will mostly be ignorant and be into "dubstep" for some of the wrong reasons...
aka the commercial market.
tbh im nt really bothered and i dont think anyone should be anyways. as long as people who are involved keep the core of the scene alive with fresh ideas and big raves then it wont do any damage to have this side segment of mainstream popularity...
all this kind of stuff, wont be my cup of tea but im not about to stop anybody enjoying it if thats what they like. i think the major threat that people worry about is waking up 2mw and this "segment" has suddenly become the most popular with a crazy influx of people raving it up to snoop and others making "rap" but with the dubstep tag being dragged along to give it some freshness....
i dont think that is about to happen anyways.

yes its simple and over a played out beat, but c'mon... snoop is actually listening to dubstep nd saying
"y'know what motherfucker? i'm diggin that shit"
does anyone know how big snoops core audience is? like, i mean the people who will buy ANYTHING he does?
its probably bigger than the population of britain. add to that your casual snoop fans and general hiphop/crunk fanbase worldwide and your looking at a ridiculous amount of people.
This is good for dubstep, really, regardless of the fact that we've heard eastern jam a million times and the chorus is a bit messy etc etc i agree, but, there are MILLIONS of people who havnt heard of dubstep who WILL have after this drops.
at the end of the day, there was bound to be a commercial dubstep thing along the way somewhere.... rather snoop, murs etc than fuckin 50 cent and nelly
gwarn chase and status - big up yaselves
edit: lol i just thought about the next one.... "Compton Thug" - Dre and Rusko
any takers??

Unless, of course, there's been a seismic shift in opinion on this on here in the last couple of months that I'm not aware of. Hypocritical, really.
Don't mind the tune for the record.
The only thing worth reading here.

Sounds too much like an acappella whammed on top of eastern jam for me. Its alright but mixtape material more than an album methinks.
Still got to give snoop props for giving it a go.

I dont see huge amounts of beef towards grime mc's over dubstep beats?? maybe if they're shit MC's who dont know how to ride a riddim but I cant see the hate?
BUT I think there is a difference between MC'ing at a dubstep night and MC'ing at a grime night - one TENDS to be about the beats and the other TENDS to be about the lyrics but they do meet in the middle
I think its whether the MC is good or not -
I love the Axiom E.P.

Trill Bass here in the dirty south has had 'Dj Lord' of Public Enemy as a part OF Trill Bass for a hot minute, and I know Mayhem (also in the durty) has worked w/KRS-ONE a lot as well.
