I wonder why famous electronic musicians are not approached by VG companies anymore. Remember Ken Ishii in REZ or FSOL in Wipeout? Imagine a good SHMUP with a soundtrack by Ikonika or a racing game with Night Slugs tracks thrown in for a good measure.
But I disagree with you on HL2 having atrocious music

They are regularly! Noisia did the new Devil May Cry, Amon Tobin did Splinter Cell, I'm sure there's plenty more

Overexaggerated a bit with HL2, the tune that hurt me the most was the tune I posted though. What were they thinking putting a goa tune in a 2004 game. Sleeping Dogs was cool, I forgot about this game. Nothing can beat kicking ass to Flying Lotus.
I wonder what electronic music Rosckstar's going to license for virtual radio stations in GTA V - brostep or trap?

The music in HL2 was like 80% great imo, but yeah that track is pretty weak. Noisia did a great job on the new Devil May Cry soundtrack:
just noticed psp are fuckin cheap. always wanted one for homebrews n ting. but are they still worth getting?
or should i just splash out on a vita & wait to use it with the ps4?

PSPs are good for emulation on the go and easy as hell to toss custom firmware on.
Mine took a beating before I finally managed to kill it because of the power and online switches breaking.
Loads of good games on it besides emulation as well.

Would recommend.
im doing Napoleon Total War right now, it took me a while to get my head around it but im proper into it.
Was up til 3am last night winning my first battle, invading one of the nothern european provinces with my Danish empire. But then Napolean wanted to go toe-to-toe so i just ducked all my armies back into the city hoping it'll all blow over.
Might try Empire next as it looks more expansive, Shogun doesnt really appeal cause of the setting but may give it a go.

Well Game of Thrones RPG is on sale so finally snagged the new DLC quest for it, that should last me a little. Probably one of the most slept on good RPGs of last year.

It also has one of the most well written stories for a game in ages.
The problem was it initially had a buggy release, and well people were expecting a AAA title when it's from AA devs. It's generally the Skyrim crowd and people who watch the GoT TV show but have no clue what A Song of Ice and Fire is.
The graphics are a bit dated, the combat is akin to Dragon Age Origins, it has some spots of shoddy voice acting, but goddamn the story is great.
It's really a love or hate game.
You spend more time listening to dialog which has no point then actually doing anything.
From one of those genius 0 ratings on metacritic on a ROLE PLAYING GAME BASED ON A BOOK SERIES

just started res 5 lastnight and i gotta say if you didn'y have to babbysit that slutty bitch it could be a nice game. as it stands that crack whore fucks up my shit everytime. all she fucking says is help, i'm out of ammo, and save me then fucking dies on me the fucking bitch. wanted to buy the gold version so i can use sharpshooter but i just can't bare the thought og having that demented slut with me the whole game. it almost seems like devs are trying thier hardest to piss us off to the max coz every game that has potential always has major fuck ups that fuck the game. i is off to my local chinese now to fill my belly as hunger is adding to my anger.
au revoir for now my fellow ninjas

Good on ya mate, it's a great series. Napoleon's actually the only one I haven't played, I was kind of put off by how limited it is compared to the other games. But yeah, if you're liking Napoleon then Empire is a great place to go next, spent like 80 hours in that one as Spain taking over Western Europe and America. As far as the setting goes, I don't mind Japan (didn't like it at first, grew on me) but the Empire/Napoleon world is probably my least favourite. The ancient and medieval worlds are always the best imo, but none of the new games are set in them and the graphics and gameplay has improved so much, which is why I'm so hyped for Rome II.

Yeah I sort of wish I'd started with Empire, the improvements in Napoleon will probably make it harder to get on with now.
The scope ain't too bad really, as it takes a decent while to get through a single year. Should get enough out of it to tide me over until Rome II, but yeah I definitely think the battle mechanics are much more suited to older settings. Ideally one set around the dark ages, with all manner of pillaging and raiding would appeal most to me.
Be interested to see what they changed in Shogun. Only complaints i have really is that Naval warfare seems to be a bit of a non-event.
